D11 Motorway Bridge Construction in Trutnov — Live Webcam
What You See Right Now
Before you is a massive construction site in the heart of the Czech Republic. The camera is installed at the EPO1 contemporary art gallery in the Poříčí district and is aimed directly at the construction of the D11 motorway viaduct. In the foreground is an electrical substation with high-voltage poles, enclosed by a green fence. In the center of the frame rises a concrete overpass with tower cranes, construction materials, and structural framework elements. Beneath the bridge is a residential area with private houses and parking zones, and in the background are the forested hills of the Krkonoše Mountains and green meadows.
History of the D11 Bridge Construction
Construction of the D11 Trutnov – Polish border section (stavba 1109) began in October 2024. This is a long-awaited project that will connect the Czech Republic to the Polish motorway network. The contractor is a consortium of companies: MI Roads, Doprastav, Metrostav TBR, Subterra, and Duna Aszfalt, with a contract worth CZK 11.7 billion excluding VAT. The planned commissioning of the first 3-kilometer section near the Polish border is scheduled for spring 2026.
Features of the Trutnov Viaduct
The Poříčí Bridge (most přes Poříčí) is 715 meters long and is the longest bridge structure on the D11 route. The entire 21-kilometer construction section contains 30 bridges, of which 13 are large (over 100 meters). The bridge is being built on the site of demolished houses in the Poříčí district, which were purchased by ŘSD for construction needs. Interestingly, construction was temporarily suspended due to elevated concentrations of natural radionuclides (radioactivity) in the Poříčí area.
Geography and Construction Route
The construction section passes through the following settlements: Bernartice, Křenov u Žacléře, Královec, Lampertice, Bohuslavice nad Úpou, Bojiště u Trutnova, Debrné, Poříčí u Trutnova, Starý Rokytník, Trutnov, Zlatá Olešnice, Střítež u Trutnova. This is a picturesque region of the Krkonoše Mountains, where the D11 motorway will connect the Czech and Polish transport networks.
Technical Details and Project Scale
The construction of the D11 bridge in Trutnov is not just about building a single viaduct — it is a comprehensive project to create modern transport infrastructure. A consortium of five construction companies is working on a section that will become a key link in the Czech motorway network. The CZK 11.7 billion contract reflects the scale of the task: in addition to the 715-meter Poříčí Bridge, another 29 bridge structures must be built, 13 of which are over 100 meters long.
