Eiffel Tower in Paris — Online Webcam with a View of the City

The Eiffel Tower online webcam opens a view of one of the most recognizable symbols in the world. The camera broadcasts the Parisian landscape in real time, allowing you to observe the life of the city from the rooftop of a building in the Trocadéro district. The online camera captures not only the tower itself but also the surrounding neighborhoods, including a monumental columned building and the La Défense business district on the horizon.

The Eiffel Tower: A 324-Meter Symbol of Paris

The Eiffel Tower rises above Paris at 324 meters — making it the tallest structure in the city. Built in 1889 as the entrance arch for the World's Fair, it was originally intended to stand for just 20 years. However, engineer Gustave Eiffel found a practical use for it — first as a radio station, then as a tourist symbol. Today, the tower welcomes around 7 million visitors annually, remaining the most visited paid monument in the world.

History: From the 1889 World's Fair to the Present Day

The idea of creating a 300-meter tower belonged to engineers Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier, but it was Gustave Eiffel who brought it to life, and his name has been associated with the structure ever since. Construction took 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days — a record time for that era. From 18,038 metal parts and 2.5 million rivets, an openwork structure weighing 10,100 tons was created. In 1909, the tower was saved from demolition due to its value for telegraph communication, and in 1964 it was granted historical monument status.

Architectural Features and Construction

The tower consists of three levels accessible to visitors. The first floor is at a height of 57 meters, the second at 115 meters, and the third at 276 meters. The structure changes shape depending on the temperature: in summer, the tower can stretch up to 15 centimeters due to thermal expansion of the metal. Every 7 years, the tower is repainted, requiring 60 tons of paint in three shades of brown.

The Palais de Chaillot and Viewing Platforms

The official Eiffel Tower webcam is installed at the Palais de Chaillot, located on the opposite bank of the Seine. This Art Deco building was constructed for the 1937 World's Fair and today houses several museums and a theater. From the Trocadéro square, there is a classic view of the tower, often reproduced on postcards and in movies. The camera operates in 24/7 mode, allowing you to see the tower both during the day and at night.

La Défense Business District on the Horizon

To the right of the tower in the camera's view is the La Défense business district — the largest business center in Europe. It concentrates 3.5 million square meters of office space, 180,000 jobs, and about 60 skyscrapers. Dominating the panorama is the Grande Arche de la Défense — an arch 110 meters high, built in 1989 for the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution. The contrast between the historical tower and the modern glass buildings creates a unique visual image of Paris.

The Champ de Mars Park at the Foot of the Tower

At the foot of the tower stretches the Champ de Mars park — a green area stretching 780 meters. The park's name refers to the Roman god of war, as military parade grounds were once located here. Today, it is a popular place for picnics and walks, offering a view of the tower from below. The park also features the Trocadéro Gardens with fountains and an alpine garden.

Night Lighting and Light Shows

After sunset, the tower is transformed by a system of 20,000 lights creating a golden glow. Every hour for 5 minutes, the tower sparkles with thousands of twinkling lights — this show runs from dusk until 1 a.m. Special lighting is activated to mark important events: pink — in support of breast cancer awareness, green — on days of environmental campaigns, blue — in honor of Europe Day.

What You Can See on the Camera

The online camera broadcasts a view from the roof of a building located in close proximity to the Eiffel Tower. In the foreground are the roofs and terraces of Parisian buildings with characteristic orange railings, ventilation equipment, and technical structures. On the right is a large monumental building in a classical style with columns and large windows. In the distance on the horizon, the La Défense business district with its skyscrapers, including the characteristic arch, is visible. In the sky are clouds that change the lighting throughout the day. The camera captures a panorama of the city of Paris with the dominant Eiffel Tower on the left, creating a complete picture of the urban landscape.
