This online camera is mounted on an overpass and faces the intersection of Stanskaya and Krasina streets — one of the key transport hubs of Kurgan. In the center of the intersection there is a green island with coniferous trees, and in the background rises the white building of the railway station with its characteristic green roof. The camera operates in real time and allows you to observe traffic, buses at the stop, and pedestrians on the station square.

History of Kurgan Station: from a wooden station to a modern complex

The Kurgan railway station appeared during the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The first wooden station building was built in 1894 (according to other sources — by January 1895). According to the original design, the station was supposed to be third-class, but Kurgan's importance on the Trans-Siberian grew rapidly.

Already in 1900, the wooden building was replaced with a brick one with beautiful masonry — such buildings typically adorned merchant houses. Water towers were erected nearby, examples of industrial architecture of that time. To this day, two of these ancient water towers have been preserved on Slosman Square.

The brick station was severely damaged by a direct shell hit during the Civil War and was not restored until the late 1930s. In 2010, the building underwent a major renovation — the first since 1979.

Slosman Square: the main gateway to Kurgan

The station square was formed in the 1960s. On September 16, 2000, it was named after Veniamin Mendelevich Slosman — head of the Kurgan branch of the South Ural Railway from 1956 to 1992. Veniamin Slosman is an Honored Transport Worker of the Russian Federation, twice awarded the "Honorary Railway Worker" badge. Under his leadership, the Kurgan branch became one of the most advanced in the network.

Slosman Square is one of the main gateways to Kurgan. There are two stations located here: the railway station and the bus station. A stele dedicated to V. M. Slosman is installed in the park. In 2017, a new monument to the city's founder Timofey Nevezhin was unveiled here, created by sculptor Olga Krasnosheina — it replaced the previous monument from 1964.

Krasina Street: the way from the station to the center

Krasina Street leads from the railway station to the historic center of the city. This is the former Vokzalny Prospekt — until 1927 it bore that name. Along Krasina Street on the way to the center, you will encounter a monument to pioneer Kolya Myagotin.

At 94 Krasina Street lived Hero of Socialist Labor Ivan Petrovich Blinov — a locomotive depot engineer at Kurgan station. The house has survived to this day, reminding us of the people who built and maintained the railway.

Kurgan Station Infrastructure

Today, Kurgan station is a first-class station. Passengers have access to information services, office services, luggage storage, porter services, and waiting halls. On the first platform in front of the entrance to the building, there once stood a monument to Stalin, dismantled during the fight against the cult of personality.

Opposite the station, a triumphal arch was erected with the inscription "Kurgan – to the locomotive," decorated with Russian flags and the coat of arms of Tobolsk Governorate. Today, Slosman Square is a modern space with a bus stop, a park, and monuments.

Transport connections: how to get to the station

Kurgan Railway Station is connected by direct trains with Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Tyumen, and other cities along the Trans-Siberian Railway. The bus stop on Slosman Square provides connections to city districts and suburban routes.

You can reach the station by public transport via Krasina Street — it connects the station square with the center of Kurgan. For motorists, parking is available near the intersection of Stanskaya and Krasina streets.
