Oath Memorial — in memory of Troitsk residents who gave their lives for the Motherland
In the very heart of Troitsk, on the public square, stands the "Oath" memorial complex — a place where every stone and every line remind us of the feat of fellow countrymen. This live webcam allows you to see the memorial zone with dark stone panels and monuments arranged in a semicircle. The cobblestone-paved square, decorative lamps with spherical shades, and green lawns with coniferous trees create a solemn yet cozy atmosphere of this place.
The "Oath" memorial was solemnly opened on November 5, 1971. The decision to create it was made in 1970, on the eve of the 25th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The authors of the project were sculptors E. I. Makarov and V. P. Bokarev. The school pathfinders of Troitsk did tremendous work establishing the names of the fallen — about 1,500 new names were found, which supplemented the lists of fallen defenders of the Fatherland.
Architecture and symbolism of the memorial complex
The "Oath" memorial is not just a monument, but a whole complex, each detail of which carries deep meaning. At the center of the composition is a pedestal, with a rectangular wall adjoining it from the south side, faced with marble slabs. On it are carved the words: "Giving your lives, you affirmed life!" and the dates "1941–1945." In front of the wall is a five-pointed star welded from steel, with a gas flame.
Around the updated memorial, pylons have been erected, on which are carved the surnames of 7,481 residents of Troitsk who died during the Great Patriotic War. These are the names of those who did not return from the battlefields, who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the Motherland. More than 5,000 residents of Troitsk died in that terrible war, and already on the first day of the war, 458 applications were received at the district military commissariat with a request to be sent to the front.
The memorial has been redesigned several times. By the 70th anniversary of Victory (from autumn 2014 to May 2015), a large-scale reconstruction of the complex was carried out. Today, the "Oath" memorial is a cultural heritage site of regional significance — it is included in the registry under number 741711241830005 based on the decision of the Chelyabinsk Regional Executive Committee of September 20, 1977.
Pavlik Morozov Square and the central square of Troitsk
The memorial is located in the "Pamyat" (Memory) Square, also known as Pavlik Morozov Square. This is one of the central places in Troitsk, where city events, holidays, and memorial ceremonies take place. To the left of the "Oath" memorial is the Alley of Heroes, and at the end of the central alley is the memorial complex itself.
The square around the memorial is paved with cobblestones, and benches for rest are installed along the perimeter. Green areas with shrubs and coniferous trees create a natural framing of the memorial zone. In the foreground, a young deciduous tree is visible, which adds liveliness to the landscape. In the depth of the square, behind the memorial, residential and administrative buildings of the city are visible — so the past coexists with the present.
Festive events and days of remembrance
The "Oath" memorial is not only a place for quiet remembrance but also a venue for solemn events. Every year on May 9, Victory Day, festive rallies, flower and wreath laying ceremonies at the foot of the monument take place here. Veterans, schoolchildren, families of the fallen come here — all who want to pay tribute to the heroes.
On days of remembrance, the square fills with people, music plays, and the eternal flame is lit. The online camera allows you to see how the memorial comes alive on these special days — how scarlet carnations are laid at the pylons with names, how children read poems at the foot of the monument. This is a living connection between generations that can be observed in real time.
