History of the interchange construction

The modern appearance of the Kalnin and Maerchak intersection took several years to form. As early as 2015, redevelopment of the bridge crossing on Kalnin Street began, intended to connect 2-ya Bryanskaya Street with Maerchak and Kalnin streets. The two-level interchange project was prepared by specialists from JSC Transmost from Saint Petersburg, while the construction was carried out by Mostotryad No. 38.

The bridge over the Kacha River, located at this intersection, was closed for major repairs on March 1, 2015. This required large-scale reconstruction work on the entire transport hub. The opening of the upgraded interchange took place on December 21, 2016 as part of Krasnoyarsk's new transport scheme.

The original construction plan provided for several ramps, which would have increased the throughput of the Kalnin – Maerchak ring by 86%. However, the interchange was opened under a truncated project, which still affects its capacity during peak hours.
