The new neighborhood on the southern outskirts of Zlatoust began to be built in 1961 — the same year Gagarin flew into space. The 8th Line is part of Gagarina Avenue, one of the cross streets of this residential area. The construction was carried out with typical five-story buildings, which still shape the appearance of the neighborhood. Over time, the neighborhood acquired infrastructure: schools, kindergartens, shops, and public transport stops.

From the height of Krasnaya Gorka, the entire city is visible, the Ay River with dams, and the mountain ranges behind it.
