History of G-Drive Arena construction

G-Drive Arena was built on the site of the demolished "Arena Omsk," which was torn down in 2019. The construction cost of the new arena amounted to approximately 12 billion rubles. Construction was financed by Gazprom Neft in conjunction with the federal and regional budgets. The grand opening of the arena took place in the fall of 2022. The first KHL game of Omsk Avangard at G-Drive Arena took place on October 1, 2022 — a victory over Sibir with a score of 2:1.

Arena architecture and features

The architectural concept was developed by B2B Architects in collaboration with Bureau V and SpecialOne (Saint Petersburg, 2019). The general design firm was ABD architects, with lead architect Ilya Leviant. The arena building has an area of 64,000 sq. m and a capacity of 12,000 spectators. The stands are designed so that a full view of the ice is available from any point. The arena building is multifunctional — it can host shows, concerts, and competitions of any level in addition to hockey.

Events and happenings at the arena

The arena hosts KHL hockey matches, stadium concerts, shows, MMA fight nights, theatrical performances, musicals, and stand-up comedy shows. Events are held at the arena as part of the Pushkin Card program (theatrical performances, classical music, exhibitions). The surrounding area of the arena is landscaped and includes children's playgrounds.

How to get to G-Drive Arena

Arena address: 35/8 Lukashevicha Street, left bank of the Irtysh River, Kirovsky District of Omsk. The "HC Avangard" public transport stop is located near the arena. Before Avangard home games, free shuttles run to the arena from various districts of Omsk. Paid and free parking lots operate near the arena; unauthorized parking in the surrounding area is prohibited.
