History of the school: from idea to the largest training center in Altai Krai

Aleksey Smer tin Football School appeared in Barnaul in January 2006. It was a joint project of several parties: Russian Football Union, Altai Krai administration, Barnaul administration, and Aleksey Smer tin himself. The school was named after a Barnaul native who was already known throughout the country by that time.

Aleksey Gennadyevich Smer tin was born on May 1, 1975, in Barnaul. He went from a pupil of a local football school to the captain of the Russian national team and champion of England — in 2005 he won the Premier League as part of London Chelsea. For Altai Krai, this name became a symbol of the fact that even in a region remote from the country's football centers, it is possible to train a world-class player.

Infrastructure: modern field and expansion plans

The school's main football field has artificial green surface with white markings: center line, penalty areas, goal areas. The field has both full-size goals and reduced training goals for working with younger age groups.

In 2023, an important update took place: with the support of Altai Krai Governor Viktor Tomenko, at the expense of budgetary funds, the artificial surface of the field was replaced. This allowed young footballers to train on a modern lawn that meets the standards for holding official competitions.

Next to the field is the ice complex "L'dinaka", which is being converted into an indoor football field with artificial turf. Training young football players: scale and results

Today, 684 athletes train in the school, with them work 14 coaches-instructors. This is the largest center for training young football players in Altai Krai, which recruits children of different ages.

The school achieves noticeable results at the competitive level. The Smer tin School girls' team became the winner of the district tournament in the 2023-2025 seasons and four years in a row received a ticket to the final stage of the YuFL-girls U14. This shows that the school works not only with boys, but also actively develops women's football in the region.

Tournaments and traditional events

Aleksey Smer tin School is not only a training base, but also a venue for major competitions. Every year the school stadium hosts the International Football Tournament in memory of legendary coach Gennady Ivanovich Smer tin — the father of Aleksey Smer tin, who worked with youth in Barnaul for many years. Teams from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan participate in the tournament.

In 2025, the school celebrated its 20th anniversary. To mark this date, the interregional tournament "PRO FOOTBALL CUP" among children born in 2013 and younger was held. Also, tournaments of the Youth Football League among teams of boys born in 2011 are regularly held in the school.
