Kamagan School in Kurtamysh District — Online Webcam
History of Kamagan School
In 1971, a new bright three-story school building appeared on the edge of the forest in the village of Kamagan. This was a real breakthrough for rural education in the Kurtamysh district — spacious equipped classrooms, a workshop, a gymnasium, a dining hall, and a two-story boarding house where 130 people lived. The school had 570 students, making it the largest educational center for several surrounding villages.
The first director of the school was Antropov, who laid the foundations for quality education in rural areas. The school quickly became not just a place of learning, but a true cultural center for all of Kamagan.
School Named After the Hero of Socialist Labor
Kamagan School bears the name of Umerbek Bimokanov — the legendary sovkhoz director and Hero of Socialist Labor. Umerbek (Andrey Ivanovich) Bimokanov was born on March 3, 1916 and devoted his entire life to the development of agriculture in the Trans-Urals region.
In the 1960s, the Kamagan sovkhoz under his leadership became a model farm for mutton production and wool shearing. Bimokanov was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor for outstanding achievements in agriculture. His descendants — Aisulu Kaydarova and her husband Akylbek — still live in Kamagan, preserving the memory of their legendary fellow villager.
Architecture and Building Layout
The Kamagan school building is a typical example of Soviet school architecture from the early 1970s. A bright facade with large windows, spacious corridors, functional zoning: classrooms on the upper floors, a gymnasium and dining hall on the first floor, and a two-story boarding house for children from surrounding villages.
The school serves not only the village of Kamagan but also the villages of Ostrovan, Chesnovka, Donki, Putilovka. For many rural children, this is where their introduction to the world of knowledge, science, and culture begins. The current state of the school — about 116 students — reflects the general demographic trends in rural areas of the Kurgan region.
School Museum and Local History
At Kamagan School there is a museum named after U. Bimokanov — a unique collection of artifacts telling the history of the sovkhoz and the life of the legendary director. Local history lessons are held here, where students learn about the Old Believer past of the village, about the Kamagan and Talovka rivers, which served as a natural barrier for the first settlers.
The areas of the village — Kokorikha and Smetanikha — are named after the surnames of the first settlers, making the local toponymy a living chronicle of the settlement of these lands. Before 1917, the village was part of the Talov volost of the Kurgan district of the Tobolsk province, and according to 1926 data, it consisted of 284 households.
Geographical Location of Kamagan Village
The village of Kamagan is located in the Kurtamysh municipal district of the Kurgan region. It is situated on the southern shore of Lake Bolshoy Kamagan, 33 km northwest of the district center, the village of Belozerskoye, and 56 km north of Kurgan.
The nature of Kamagan creates a unique landscape: the Kamagan, Talovka, and Presnaya rivers form a natural barrier on three sides, protecting the village from winds. Lake Bolshoy Kamagan is home to crucian carp, making it attractive for fishermen. The tree line in the background is part of the natural surroundings characteristic of the southern Trans-Urals region.
What the Camera Shows
The online camera is installed on the Kamagan school building and broadcasts the entrance area of the educational institution. The image shows the bright facade of the building with windows, metal railings, and steps at the entrance. The state flag of the Russian Federation flies at the entrance, and flower beds are placed around it.
Behind the building, an open area with grassy ground, a fence, and a tree line in the background are visible. The real-time camera allows you to observe the life of a rural school, see students and teachers coming to classes, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of a Trans-Urals village.
