Temnik Square in Kopeysk — Real-Time Online Camera
Temnik Square — a landscaped recreation area in Kopeysk
In Kopeysk, on the outskirts of the city, lies Temnik Square — a cozy space that appeared here thanks to the initiative of local residents. This area of over 3,000 square meters has been transformed into a full-fledged recreation zone with pathways, flower beds, benches, and decorative elements. The real-time camera allows you to see citizens strolling along the paved pathways, resting on wooden benches, and enjoying the landscaped territory.
The square has become a true gift for residents of the surrounding neighborhoods — two- and three-story brick and panel houses that can be seen in the background. A decorative arch is installed in the depths of the territory, and rectangular flower beds with low-growing plants are laid out around the perimeter. A crosswalk and road signs on the left provide safe access to the square from the roadway.
Abram Matveyevich Temnik — the hero after whom the square is named
The square is named after Abram Matveyevich Temnik — Hero of the Soviet Union, Guard Colonel, commander of the 1st Guards Tank Brigade. He was born on October 6 (19), 1907 in the village of Chernigovka, Berdyansky Uyezd, Taurida Governorate. He was at the front from the first day of the war — fought near Moscow and Smolensk, participated in the defense of the Caucasus and the Battle of Stalingrad, and liberated cities of the Ukrainian SSR.
On April 25, 1945, under Temnik's command, the guards tankers were the first to break into Berlin, defeating the enemy. On April 27, he was mortally wounded on one of Berlin's streets but continued to command until being sent to the hospital. On April 29, 1945, Abram Matveyevich Temnik died of his wounds. His name is inscribed on the monument to fallen Soviet soldiers at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
For a long time, the hero's parents — R.O. Temnik and M.S. Temnik — lived in Kopeysk, who often spoke at city schools about their son. The bust of Hero of the Soviet Union Abram Matveyevich Temnik — the eleventh monument to Heroes of the Soviet Union in Kopeysk — is installed in the Square of Fallen Heroes at Krasnykh Partizan Square (Bor'by Street), where its grand opening took place on May 9, 2021.
Reconstruction and landscaping in 2020–2021
The square on Temnik Street appeared at the request of local residents who approached a deputy of the Assembly of Deputies of the Kopeysk City District, Tatyana Sablina. The landscaping work was carried out as part of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment" under the federal project "Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment." The cost of the work amounted to 5.4 million rubles.
The grand opening of the square took place in 2021. During this time, the territory has been transformed: paved pathways have been laid, flower beds with soil and low-growing plants have been created, wooden benches for relaxation have been installed, and green roll-out lawns have appeared. Pedestrian zones and recreation areas have made the square attractive to residents of all ages.
