History of Kozhevnikova Street — a name frozen in time

Kozhevnikova Street in Kopeysk is named after Ivan Ivanovich Kozhevnikov (1907–1943) — a political officer of a machine gun company and a participant of the Great Patriotic War. Ivan was born in 1907 in the village of Sazhino, Shumikhinsky District, and at the age of 17 he came to Chelyabkopi, where he worked as a sled maker and a miner at Mine No. 12 of Severny Rud. He was one of the first front-line soldiers from Kopeysk to be awarded the Order of the Red Banner in September 1942, and later received the Order of the Red Star. A memorial plaque dedicated to the hero is installed on house No. 4 on Kozhevnikova Street, at the intersection with Prospekt Slavy.

Prospekt Slavy — a broad artery of the city

Kozhevnikova Street crosses Prospekt Slavy — one of the main transport arteries of Kopeysk. This avenue was designed by the "Chelyabinskgradproyekt" institute, and the design was completed in January 1980. Previously, the avenue bore the name Kommunisticheskaya (and before that — Zheleznodorozhnaya Street).
