Ust-Omchug was founded in 1939 as the administrative center of the Tenkinsky Mining and Industrial Administration. Initially, the settlement was called "184th kilometer" — based on the distance from Magadan along the highway under construction. In September of the same year, the Tenkinsky Mining and Industrial Administration was officially established with its center at the mouth of the Omchug River.

Victory Street appeared in the settlement's development as a tribute to the memory of the Great Patriotic War. By the 30th anniversary of Victory, Peace Street appeared in Ust-Omchug, which expanded the territory of Victory Street, giving it its modern boundaries. Since then, this street has remained the central and most attractive for the settlement's residents.

In the 1970s, the settlement developed actively: a new Sports Palace, a stadium near the park, a hospital building, and a polyclinic were built. These facilities shaped the appearance of the central part of Ust-Omchug, which can be observed today through the camera on Victory Street.

An alternative way is by air. Ust-Omchug has an airport that receives flights from Magadan. This is especially relevant in winter, when the highway may be closed due to snowstorms and low temperatures.

The main memorial space of the street is the Victory Square and Glory Bas-relief. This is a place of memory and ceremonial events, where residents gather on Victory Day and other memorable dates. The square is decorated with a bas-relief dedicated to the feat of fellow countrymen during the Great Patriotic War.

On Victory Street are located the key administrative and social facilities of the settlement. The two-story green-and-white building with many windows, visible to the left of the square, is one of the educational or administrative institutions of Ust-Omchug. Such development is typical for the Soviet period of the settlement's development.

Multi-story residential buildings in blue and white colors in the background are housing for workers of local enterprises and the public sector. The architecture of these buildings reflects the standards of development of northern settlements in the 1970s–1980s.

Victory Street in winter and summer

The view of Victory Street changes dramatically depending on the season. In winter, which lasts here from October to May, the entire space is covered with a thick layer of snow. Roads and squares are cleared, but the surrounding landscape turns into a white wilderness with dark silhouettes of trees and buildings.
