Galernaya Gavan Construction Site, Saint Petersburg — Live Webcam
Historical Context: From Rowing Port to Modern Quarter
The territory where the residential complex is being built today has a rich history dating back to the era of Peter the Great. September 21, 1721 saw the emperor's personal decree on the construction at the mouth of the Black Channel on Vasilyevsky Island of a "fortress" — the Galernaya Harbor of the Rowing Port. The project was developed by court architect Domenico Trezzini, who designed a rectangular basin and an entrance canal over 400 meters long. The online webcam installed directly at the construction site allows you to watch how this place is gaining a new life.
In 1794, the harbor was renamed the Main Rowing Port, and after the devastating fire of 1796, it lost its military purpose and became a warehouse area. A settlement of skippers emerged on the banks, and the road between modern Nalichnaya and Shevchenko streets became known as Skiperskaya, later turning into the embankment of the Skipersky Channel. Today, this part of Vasilyevsky Island is experiencing a new life, remaining on the front line of the water.
Architectural Concept: "Ordered Chaos" at the Island's Tip
The design of the new residential complex was developed by the architectural studio INTERCOLUMNIUM under the direction of Evgeny Podgornov. The concept was named "ordered chaos" — buildings of varying heights with author-designed facades of red brick, interspersed with arched elements. The landscape design of the territory was entrusted to the A4 bureau, which organized fountain groups here.
The complex belongs to the business class and includes 404 apartments. Areas range from 29.45 to 104.98 m². Special attention is paid to public spaces: this is the first business-class residential complex in Saint Petersburg with its own landscaped territory right by the water.
Water Panoramas: Views of the Gulf of Finland and Neva
The main advantage of the location is the panoramic views. 80% of apartments are oriented so that the windows offer views of Galernaya Harbor, the Gulf of Finland, and the Neva. Thanks to the front line of the Skipersky Channel embankment and the varied-height architecture that avoids blank walls, maximum views of the water spaces are ensured. The ecology of the western tip of Vasilyevsky Island, where the spit ends and open water begins, gives residents constant contact with the marine element.
Infrastructure and Transport Accessibility
The address of the object is Vasilyevsky Island, Skipersky Channel, 16–18. This is a historical part of Saint Petersburg with developed urban infrastructure. The main highways of the area pass nearby, ensuring convenient transport accessibility. For motorists, an underground parking lot is provided, which solves the problem of shortage of parking spaces on Vasilyevsky Island.
Technical Specifications and Implementation Timeline
The construction is carried out by SZ PROJECT-S-37 (PSK Group). The project provides for delivery in Q3 2028. The complex includes two large residential buildings, executed in a modern architectural style using red brick, which refers to the traditions of St. Petersburg development, but in a new interpretation. The landscaped area around the buildings with trees and arched elements will create a private atmosphere in the center of the metropolis.
What You Can See on the Camera
The online camera broadcasts the construction progress in real time. In the foreground is the water surface of Galernaya Harbor with the reflection of new buildings. In the frame are two large residential buildings made of red brick, being built along the water body. Around the buildings, a landscaped area with arched elements and trees can be seen. The webcam allows you to observe how the appearance of Vasilyevsky Island is changing and to watch how a modern residential quarter is growing on the site of the former Rowing Port.
