Kogalym — a Young City of Western Siberia

Kogalym is one of the youngest and most rapidly developing cities in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. It appeared on the map in 1976 during the large-scale development of Western Siberia's oil fields. Just half a century ago, geologists' tents stood on this very spot, and today about 68,000 people live here.

The city is situated on the banks of the Ingulyagun River and is one of the key centers of Russia's oil industry. The city-forming enterprise — OOO LUKOIL-Western Siberia — provides employment for most of the townspeople and actively participates in Kogalym's social life. In 2025, the city celebrates its 50th anniversary.

In close proximity to the location, there is a roundabout at the intersection of Molodezhnaya, Druzhby Narodov, and Ugorskaya streets. Here stands the iconic landmark — the "Pearl of Western Siberia" sculptural composition, installed in August 2007 at the initiative of LUKOIL. It symbolizes the city's achievements in socio-economic development and its status as one of the leading centers of the Tyumen region.

Public Square and Recreation Areas

The camera provides a clear view of the well-maintained public square — a favorite leisure spot for Kogalym residents. Everything here is designed for comfortable relaxation: walkways, comfortable benches, and red canopy pergolas that provide protection from the sun and rain. In the warm season, the square fills with people: mothers with children, elderly couples, and young people.

To the left of the square is a children's playground with bright features — slides, swings, and sandboxes. This place is never empty: toddlers play under their parents' supervision, while older children explore the play structures. How to Get to Molodezhnaya Street

Molodezhnaya Street is located in the central part of Kogalym and is easily accessible both by public transport and by car. The nearest stops are "Mira Street" or "Molodezhny Integrated Center." If you're driving to the city, navigate toward the intersection with Mira Street — that's where building number 2 is located, right next to which the camera is installed.
