October Square: the heart of post-war Pskov

October Square is a relatively young square in Pskov, which emerged in the mid-20th century, in the 1950s. It took shape in the post-war years following the destruction of the Great Patriotic War, at the intersection of Sovetskaya and Oktyabrskaya streets. On June 25, 1947, a park named Krasnye Partizany (Red Partisans) was laid out on the cleared rubble site, which later became part of the future square. Today, this space is an important transport and public hub of the city, which can be observed via a webcam in real time.
