The live webcam broadcasts the Avenue of Courage in Novy Urengoy, located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The live stream from this memorial provides a unique opportunity to monitor the condition of the territory, the intersection of pathways, and the central monument around the clock. The site attracts attention not only from local residents but also from travelers interested in patriotic memorials of Russia.
What the Avenue of Courage represents
The Avenue of Courage is a memorial complex established in 2017 by an initiative group of local patriots. The first object installed on the territory was a memorial sign dedicated to airborne troops and marines. Over time, the territory expanded and transformed into a unified memorial complex.
The main element of the memorial is the monument in honor of the defenders of the Fatherland. The composition includes a bronze figure of a warrior standing on a granite pedestal. Nearby, two triangular stainless steel elements symbolizing mountains and flying cranes — birds traditionally signifying faith in the return of the living — have been installed.
The authors of the monument are members of the Union of Artists of Russia and UNESCO sculptors Dmitry Postnikov and Alexander Suvorov. The image of the soldier is collective — it is a tribute to all warriors who stood up to defend the Fatherland in the most difficult moments of history.
Geographical location of the site
The memorial territory is located in the Optimist microdistrict, on the passage named after Vladimir Zhoga. This is the postal address of the site: Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Novy Urengoy, passage named after Vladimir Zhoga, Optimist microdistrict. The camera shows this part of the city from a bird's eye view.
You can reach the memorial from the Bogoyavlensky Cathedral, which is located in the same microdistrict. Walk from the cathedral along Zhoga passage — the Avenue of Courage will be right in front of you on the right-hand side. This top-down view pathway creates a convenient overview of the entire square space.
History of the memorial complex creation
The key event was the opening of the memorial on November 8, 2023. The solemn ceremony was chaired by the Governor of Yamalo-Nets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Artyukov. Representatives of the local community, combat veterans, and clergy attended the event.
The initiative to install the monument belongs to members of the regional public organization "Airborne Brotherhood in YANAO" and the military-patriotic center "Vympel-Yamal." Thanks to their efforts, a place appeared on the city map where one can pay tribute to all those who showed dedication in defending the Motherland.
Development of the memorial complex
The Avenue of Courage is not limited to a single monument. Over time, the complex has developed, and new objects dedicated to various categories of defenders and rescuers have sequentially appeared on its territory. Such objects include the monument "Border Guards of All Generations" and the monument to firefighters who died in the line of duty.
The territory is regularly updated: ceremonial openings of new memorials and awarding of participants in the special military operation take place here. In addition, subbotniks (voluntary clean-up days) are held on the avenue as part of the federal project "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment." The "Heroes of the Fatherland" memorial is a tribute to every resident of Yamal and all citizens of the country whose efforts brought peace closer in Donbas and the new regions.
Purpose of the memorial
The Avenue of Courage serves an important function — preserving the historical memory of the exploits of people who defended Russia. The memorial is a place where a significant part of the city's cultural life of Novy Urengoy takes place. Events related to Victory Day, City Day, and other important dates in Russian history are held here.
The accessible webcam of the Avenue of Courage makes the site popular among those who want to monitor the condition of the territory from home or office. People check whether the parking space is occupied, how the memorial looks in festive decoration, and when events take place. This is a modern way of maintaining a connection with a historical place via the internet.
What you can see on the camera
The webcam overlooking the Avenue of Courage shows a panorama of the memorial square from a bird's eye view. In the center of the frame is a triangular metal structure on a white pedestal with a bronze figure of a soldier. The sculptural image is made in the form of a full-length warrior holding a weapon. In the foreground is a landscaped area with paved cross-shaped walkways.
Between the walkways are benches, flower pots, and young trees. Lampposts are installed everywhere, making the avenue aesthetically pleasing both during the day and in the evening. On the sides of the memorial zone are parking spaces where cars, vans, and trailers are parked. Behind the parking lot, a road with moving traffic passes by.
In the background, a large commercial building of red or orange color with several display windows and its own parking lot is noticeable. In the evening, its architecture is clearly visible thanks to the lighting. Some information is placed on the building's walls, and the windows are illuminated from within. This creates an interesting contrast between the memorial site and the modern urban landscape.
