Reno–Tahoe Airport Webcam in Nevada — Live Stream Online
Live Stream from Reno–Tahoe Airport Camera
The camera is positioned with a view of Reno–Tahoe International Airport (RNO) — the second busiest commercial airport in Nevada. The broadcast is in real time, allowing you to observe air traffic, takeoffs, and landings. The camera captures not only the airfield but also the surrounding area with the characteristic landscape of this region — treeless hilly slopes and mountainous terrain.
Transportation Significance of Reno Airport
Reno–Tahoe Airport serves as the main transportation gateway for the vast Reno-Tahoe region. It provides access to Lake Tahoe resorts, ski complexes like Heavenly Ski Resort, as well as numerous casinos and hotels in Reno and Sparks. The medium-hub category airport serves both domestic flights within the US and is an important hub for travelers heading to the mountain resorts of the Sierra Nevada.
Infrastructure and Runways
The airport has three runways: two parallel (17L/35R and 17R/35L) and one crosswind (08/26), designed to operate in crosswinds — a typical phenomenon for mountainous terrain. The main runways have concrete pavement with grooves for improved traction. The annual volume of aircraft operations is approximately 70,000 takeoffs and landings.
Currently, a large-scale expansion project MoreRNO worth about one billion dollars is being implemented. It provides for the construction of two new concourses with 28 gates, which will significantly increase the airport's capacity by 2028-2029.
Passenger Traffic and Airlines
The airport's passenger traffic shows steady growth. In the first half of 2023, a record figure was recorded — 2.18 million passengers, which became the maximum since 2008. The airport operates around the clock, offering passengers waiting rooms, conference rooms, and showers.
Transportation Accessibility and Connection to the City
The airport is located 3 miles southeast of downtown Reno. Connection to the city is provided by taxis, ride-sharing services Uber and Lyft, as well as city buses RTC. For guests of Lake Tahoe resorts, regular South Tahoe Airporter shuttles operate with stops at major casino resorts — Hard Rock, Harvey's, Bally's. Travel time to resorts varies from 15 to 60 minutes depending on the direction.
Geographical Location and Landscape
The airport was built in 1929 at an altitude of 4,415 feet (1,346 m) above sea level. It is surrounded by mountainous terrain — the Sierra Nevada ranges, which create specific conditions for aviation. The region's dry continental climate ensures predominantly clear weather, which is favorable for observing air traffic via the webcam.
What You Can See on the Camera
The broadcast from the Reno–Tahoe Airport camera shows the runways with parallel courses 17L/35R and 17R/35L, the apron and terminal area. In the background are treeless hilly desert slopes characteristic of the high desert of the Great Basin. The frame shows aircraft at various stages of flight: taxiing, takeoff, climb, and approach. The information panel in the upper right corner displays flight data: speed, altitude, distance from the camera, and route. The camera operates 24/7, providing continuous video surveillance of air traffic at any time of day.
