Mira Street in Volzhsky — live webcam online
Mira Street — the main artery of Volzhsky
Mira Street is one of the three key thoroughfares of Volzhsky, along with Lenin Avenue and Karbyshev Street. Its length is 4,749 meters. The street was developed in stages from northwest to southeast: the initial section — microdistricts 10–16 — was formed in the late 1960s–1970s, where five-story buildings predominate. The street was named after the Volzhsky City Committee for the Protection of Peace, established in October 1969. The committee operated for over 20 years and conducted educational work in the spirit of patriotism and internationalism.
The city of Volzhsky: history and scale
Volzhsky is the second-largest city in Volgograd Oblast and ranks 61st among Russian cities with a population of around 321,000 people. The city is located on the left bank of the Akhtuba River, 28.7 kilometers northeast of central Volgograd. The city's history began in 1951–1952 with the construction of the Stalingrad Hydroelectric Power Station — it was near the builders' settlement that modern Volzhsky grew. Today it is a major industrial center of the Lower Volgograd region with developed infrastructure and vibrant urban life.
Intersection of Mira Street and the 87th Guards Division
The webcam is installed at the intersection of Mira Street and the 87th Guards Division — in the southeastern part of Volzhsky. This intersection is one of the busiest on the street: there are pedestrian crossings, traffic signal facilities, and the traffic intensity reflects the rhythm of urban life. In the foreground is a single-story commercial building with a green facade and orange canopies, which serves as a landmark for drivers and pedestrians.
Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov — an architectural landmark
To the right of the intersection, an Orthodox church with blue domes and a golden tent roof is visible — this is the Church of the Venerable Seraphim of Sarov at 109A Mira Street. The church is surrounded by greenery and is clearly visible from the webcam. In total, there are 15 Orthodox churches in Volzhsky, and the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov is one of the most prominent in the cityscape. It provides spiritual care for the residents of an orphanage and a social rehabilitation center for minors.
Commercial facilities and infrastructure
Several large shopping centers are located on Mira Street. At the intersection with Alexandrov Street is the Volgamoll Shopping and Entertainment Center — a modern retail and entertainment complex. Zarya Shopping Center (Building 79) and Hermes Shopping Center (Building 31A) are also situated along Mira Street. These facilities generate steady pedestrian and vehicle traffic, which is clearly visible on the live camera.
How to get to Mira Street
The "Mira Street" public transport stop is located on Mira Street. The following routes pass through it: 2u, 6, 14, 16, 24, 260, 105a — buses and minibus taxis. This makes the intersection accessible to anyone who wants to see it in person, not just via the webcam. Near Mira Street is the Gidrostroitel Park — one of the city's oldest parks, established in the 1950s, with a classic layout, green alleys, fountains, and sculptures of ground squirrels — the unofficial symbol of Volzhsky.
