Volzhsky — a city on the Volga

Located on the left bank of the Volga River, the city of Volzhsky is part of the Volgograd Region. History of street formation

The formation of the modern street network took place in the 1950s, in the context of construction related to the transformation of the workers' settlement of Volzhsky into a city. The city master plan, including streets of Karbyshev, Alexandrov, and Narimanov, was approved in 1965. By the early 1960s, VAZ, GPZ-15, RTE, CHPP-1, and almost all plants of the Volzhsky Chemical Complex were under construction in the city.

Pushkina Street — the main artery of the city

Pushkina Street is named after the great poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. Together with other central streets, it forms the axis of the central architectural ensemble of Volzhsky. It is one of the most important and longest streets in the city — its length is 9.3 km. The street connects the old part of the city, residential neighborhoods, and the industrial zone.

Residential development and architecture

The development of Pushkina Street is part of the ensemble "Complex of Development of the City of Hydropower Engineers, Volzhsky, 1st Stage of the City," which is a monument of architecture and urban planning of regional significance. The frontage consists of buildings constructed according to individual designs, including panel residential buildings, for example, house No. 56 (9th microdistrict) — a five-story panel building from 1969 with 119 apartments. House No. 136 on Pushkina Street is a panel building from 1982, series 111-83.

Narimanova Street and its history

Narimanova Street is named after the Azerbaijani political figure Nariman Narimanov. It received this name in 1972. Although Narimanov himself never visited Volzhsky, a settlement in the Volgograd Region is also named in his honor. In 2024, Narimanova Street underwent a major reconstruction under the national project "Safe Quality Roads."
