Dorozhnikov Drive in Volgograd — Online Webcam
Dorozhnikov Drive is one of those transport arteries of Volgograd that rarely make it onto postcards but handle thousands of vehicles every day. Located in the Dzerzhinsky District, this roadway connects residential neighborhoods with the Third Longitudinal Highway — a key road in the city. The live webcam installed at the intersection with the 3rd Longitudinal allows you to monitor traffic in real time: from passenger cars to construction equipment that frequently operates in the surrounding areas.
Dorozhnikov Drive: Transport Artery of the Dzerzhinsky District
Dorozhnikov Drive serves an important auxiliary function in Volgograd's transport network. It services the adjacent territories of the Dzerzhinsky District, providing access from the Third Longitudinal Highway to residential neighborhoods and commercial facilities. The intersection with Zemlyachki Street near the hospital complex has long been a bottleneck during rush hours — which is why the city administration decided to change the traffic pattern and convert the T-junction into a full-fledged interchange. The real-time camera shows how vehicles maneuver at this intersection and allows you to assess road congestion before heading out.
History of the Overpass Construction
The overpass on Dorozhnikov Drive is a regionally significant facility, the reconstruction of which was approved back in 2017. Decree of the Administration of Volgograd Region dated May 22, 2017, No. 254-p approved the territory planning project for this structure. The capital repair of the overpass was scheduled for October 2017 and was included in the Third Longitudinal Highway reconstruction program. The work was carried out as part of the priority federal project "Safe and Quality Roads", which underscores the strategic importance of the facility for the entire transport infrastructure of Volgograd.
Third Longitudinal Highway: Strategic Significance
The Third Longitudinal Highway is one of the most important transport arteries not only of Volgograd but of the entire southeast of Russia. It connects three federal highways: R-228 (Volgograd — Syzran), R-260 (Volgograd — Kamensk-Shakhtinsky), and the "Caspian" highway. The highway handles transit traffic from the Samara Region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, and the Ural regions. In 2025, a new overpass interchange opened on the Third Longitudinal — road reconstruction began in 2021, and over a 3.2-kilometer stretch, the carriageway was widened from two to four lanes. More stages are ahead: in 2027, reconstruction of a 3.6-kilometer section will begin, with a project cost of 2.2 billion rubles.
Dzerzhinsky District and Gumrak Neighborhood
Dorozhnikov Drive is located in the Dzerzhinsky District — one of the largest districts of Volgograd, stretching along the left bank of the Volga River. In the northwest of the district lies the Gumrak neighborhood, known primarily as the location of Volgograd International Airport (IATA: VOG, ICAO: URWW). The airport is located 15 kilometers from the city center and is part of the Novaport Holding group. In April 2024, the airport was renamed by decree of the President of the Russian Federation and is now officially called "Stalingrad Airport." Gumrak is a former workers' settlement that was incorporated into Volgograd several years ago and is now a neighborhood of the Dzerzhinsky District. From here, you can reach the city center by minibus in about half an hour.
Current Status and Reconstruction Plans
The transport infrastructure around Dorozhnikov Drive continues to develop. Between 2025 and 2028, plans are in place to build an exit from the R-228 highway onto the Third Longitudinal Highway and an exit from the highway onto the R-260. Construction will begin in 2026 and be completed in 2028. These plans directly affect Dorozhnikov Drive, as it is part of this transport network. The live webcam at 44 Dorozhnikov Drive allows you to monitor how ongoing work affects road traffic and to see what construction equipment is being used at the site.
What You Can See on the Camera
The webcam is mounted at elevation and covers the intersection of Dorozhnikov Drive with 3rd Longitudinal Street. In the foreground is the multi-lane road intersection with passenger cars moving through. To the right, in a fenced area, there is a parking lot where yellow backhoe loaders are parked — a typical sight for Volgograd, where construction equipment often operates in areas adjacent to major highways. Also on the right, a commercial building with a blue roof is visible, and to the left, a row of small kiosks with advertising signs. In the background rises the overpass with vehicles moving across it and urban development with multi-story residential buildings. Surrounding the roads is open terrain with dry vegetation and streetlights that turn on at dusk. The live stream is perfect for assessing weather conditions on Volgograd's roads, intersection congestion during rush hour, or simply observing city life in real time.
