La Perola Beach (Playa de la Perola) is an artificial sandy beach with fine golden sand, equipped with all necessary infrastructure. It is located between the breakwater and Port Roses marina, directly in front of La Nova beach. This is one of the most popular beaches among the residents of the urban area of Roses, so it usually has a high occupancy rate.

The beach provides access for visitors with reduced mobility and beach equipment rental. Under the shade of palm trees, a historical artifact is displayed — an anchor covered in vegetable fiber, cast into the sea before 1820. This anchor serves as a reminder of the maritime history of Roses, which spans centuries.

Port Roses Marina — the center of sailing

To the left of La Perola Beach is Port Roses marina — one of the largest yacht ports on the Costa Brava. The marina serves 487 vessels, of which 363 are permanent berths for yachts, while the rest are intended for transit vessels. Floating pontoons and piers create a protected water area where sailboats and motor yachts are moored.

The marina is located in the northern part of the Costa Brava, about 30 km from the border with France, 65 km from Girona, and 160 km from Barcelona. This makes it a convenient base for coastal travel. Cruise ships have been welcomed at the port of Roses since 2004, which has made the city a privileged tourist destination for cruise tourism.

How to get to the beach and where to park

La Perola Beach is within walking distance from the center of Roses. Playa La Perola apartments are located just 200 meters from the beach and 600 meters from the city center. This means that most tourist facilities are within a 10-15 minute walk.

For those arriving by car, there are private garages and parking spaces available for rent near the beach. Some apartments in the La Perola area offer free parking for guests. There are also public paid parking lots in Roses located near the beach.

Natural features and green areas

The promenade of Roses is lined with palm trees, under whose shade visitors to La Perola Beach rest. On the right bank of the bay grow palm trees, behind which multi-story residential buildings and structures are visible. In the Costa Brava region, the most common species are the date palm, Washingtonia robusta, Canary Island date palm, and dwarf palmetto palm.

Interestingly, in 2023 a 250 sq. km area in the Gulf of Roses was approved for the placement of wind farms as the only suitable marine location in Catalonia. This indicates that the region is actively developing renewable energy while maintaining its tourist appeal.
