Maribor Pohorje Ski Resort in Slovenia — Live Webcam Online
Maribor Pohorje: Slovenia's Skiing Gem
If you want to see one of the most famous resorts in Eastern Europe, the live webcam at Maribor Pohorje will transport you to the heart of northern Slovenia. This massif may not impress with sharp Alpine peaks, but it captivates with its pristine greenery and robust infrastructure. Here you'll find Slovenia's largest ski resort with 40 km of well-groomed slopes, served by 22 lifts. The resort is located on the outskirts of Maribor — the country's second-largest city in the northeastern part of Slovenia.
World-Class Competitions: From the Golden Fox to the Present Day
The resort's history is inextricably linked to the World Cup. In 1964, Dušan Senčar, Marjan Kožuh, and Franci Čop became the founders of the Golden Fox (Zlata lisica). The first Alpine Ski World Cup competition as part of this tournament took place in 1970. And already in 1971, the first Eurovision television broadcast was made from Pohorje. In 1972, for the first time in the history of alpine skiing, giant slalom competitions were held over two runs.
Unique Slopes and Resort Infrastructure
The resort's slopes practically stretch into the city — with enough snow, you can ski right down into the valley via the Čopova slope and Snow Stadium. Maribor Pohorje boasts Europe's longest illuminated ski slope — its length ranges from 7 to 10 km, with the night descent running from Bellevue down to the valley. The slopes are equipped with a snowmaking system and are regularly groomed, ensuring quality skiing even with insufficient natural snow.
Natural Treasures of the Pohorje Massif
The Pohorje massif is a densely green mountain range with gentle hills and thick forests. One of the main natural attractions of Pohorje is the Lovrenška jezera (Lovrenc Lakes) — a popular spot for hiking. Pristine forest (Veliki Šumik and Mali Šumik) with waterfalls has been preserved in the area, as well as the Razglednik viewpoint with panoramic views. Pohorje is part of a regional park and forms part of the Slovenian Mountain Trail.
Attractions and Tourist Routes
Pohorje is home to the Treetop Walk Pohorje — an ecological attraction that allows you to observe nature from a bird's-eye view. There are 8 webcams installed across the resort, the highest of which (Pisker slopes) is at an altitude of 1,127 meters, and the lowest (Lower Station Cable Car) is at the base. Panoramic cameras show a live broadcast from across the entire Maribor Pohorje resort, including the Areh area, slopes, forests, and mountain ranges.
What the Camera Shows
The camera overlooking Maribor Pohorje shows the resort in all its diversity. In the foreground is a dirt road and green grassy terrain. In the center of the frame is a roofed structure with graffiti, which is an element of the ski infrastructure. To the right is green technical equipment, likely part of a lift or snowmaking installation. Around it are wooden fences covered in graffiti. In the background are dense coniferous forests, hills, and mountains. Paths and dirt trails leading up the slope are visible. The overall picture shows the resort in the off-season. The online camera allows you to appreciate the scale of the infrastructure and enjoy the serene beauty of the green slopes.
