Novovartovskaya Street: A New Transport Artery of Nizhnevartovsk
Novovartovskaya Street is one of the youngest thoroughfares in Nizhnevartovsk, with construction underway since 2021 as a bypass for the congested Lopareva Street. The new road is designed to connect the old part of the city with the center, relieving traffic for tens of thousands of residents. The first stage, stretching 609 meters, was completed in 2021, and the second stage — from Farman Salmanov Street to Entuziastov settlement — opened on October 14, 2022. The total length of the thoroughfare is about 3 km, with construction being carried out in four stages.
In 2022, 310 million rubles were allocated for the project. This is a four-lane thoroughfare equipped with storm drains, bike lanes, and sidewalks. Lopareva Street, which Novovartovskaya bypasses, was at the time of construction the only transport artery connecting the main part of the city with the old one, and the completion of the new road has relieved traffic for nearly 60 thousand residents.
From Vartovskaya Sloboda to a Modern Neighborhood
The name "Novovartovskaya" carries a direct historical connection to Stary Vartovsk — one of the oldest parts of Nizhnevartovsk. The village of Nizhne-Vartovskoye appeared on the map of the Tobolsk Governorate as early as 1903, and the new street continues the tradition of names associated with Vartovskaya Sloboda. In 2008, the continuation of Omskaya Street toward Stary Vartovsk was named Geroyev Samotlora Street, and Novovartovskaya became the continuation of this transport artery.
The area along the street is being developed in accordance with the approved master plan of the city, which ensures the possibility of developing new areas for residential construction. The adjacent plots include land for sports facilities and future mid-rise residential development, and a boiler house has already been built nearby.
Geroyev Samotlora Square: Honoring the Pioneers
Adjacent to Novovartovskaya Street is the Geroyev Samotlora Square — a public space of over 7,000 sq. m, created in honor of the pioneers of the Samotlor oil field. A memorial complex with bronze sculptures is installed in the central part. This space is part of a comprehensive effort to preserve the historical memory of the labor feat of the oil worker pioneers of Western Siberia who developed the Samotlor field.
In 2008, on the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Samotlor field, a large-scale restoration of the memorial stele of the first Samotlor well R-1 was carried out, underscoring the deep connection between the history of Samotlor's development and the modern appearance of Nizhnevartovsk, reflected in the names of streets and urban landmarks.
A Residential Neighborhood from a Bird's Eye View

There are sports facilities for residents leading an active lifestyle.
Parking areas are located on both unpaved and hard surfaces — local residents' cars are visible throughout the day. The street infrastructure of the residential area includes everything needed for comfortable living: from recreation zones to access roads for special vehicles. The live webcam allows you to observe the life of the courtyard at any time of day.
Transport Accessibility and Landmarks
Novovartovskaya Street opens the way to new promising neighborhoods of Nizhnevartovsk. The main landmark is the intersection with Geroyev Samotlora Street, from which the new thoroughfare leads toward Stary Vartovsk. For those traveling by public transport, the key points are the bus stops along Lopareva Street — Novovartovskaya is just a short walk from them.
The area is actively being built up, and the webcam on Novovartovskaya gives an idea of the scale of the territory's development. The city's master plan provides for further development of areas along the thoroughfare, making this location one of the most dynamically developing in Nizhnevartovsk.
