Druzhby Street in Volzhsky — Online Webcam
Where Druzhby Street is located in Volzhsky
Druzhby Street is one of the central thoroughfares of the "new" part of the city of Volzhsky in the Volgograd region. The avenue starts from Profsoyuzov Boulevard and ends at the intersection with 87th Guards Division Street. It is one of the main transport arteries of the residential district, connecting the city center with outlying neighborhoods.
Volzhsky is located on the left bank of the Volga River, opposite Volgograd, and Druzhby Street runs through typical residential development with multi-story panel and brick buildings. The area was actively populated during Soviet times and continues to serve its residential function to this day.
Why the street is called Druzhby
Druzhby Street bears a symbolic name — in the 1960s–1980s, ties between cities of different countries united by the World Federation of Twin Cities were developed. Volzhsky's friendly ties with foreign cities were established in 1967. The name reflected the idea of international friendship and cooperation, popular in Soviet toponymy of that period.
The avenue became a kind of symbol of the city's openness — Volzhsky actively developed sister-city relations, and Druzhby Street became one of the first in the new part of the city to receive an ideologically significant name.
87th Guards Street — neighboring thoroughfare
87th Guards Street is named after the 87th Guards Rifle Division of the Red Banner and Suvorov II degree, which traces its history back to the 300th Rifle Division. The name was given on the initiative of the council of veterans of the 87th Guards Division — thus the city commemorated the memory of soldiers who fought during the Great Patriotic War.
The intersection of Druzhby Street and 87th Guards Street is an important transport hub in the residential district. The camera, directed towards 87th Guards Street, shows exactly this section of the thoroughfare, where traffic and pedestrian flows intersect.
Architecture and development of Druzhby Avenue
Active development of Druzhby Avenue began in the early 1970s — building No. 1 was completed in 1973, building No. 2 — in 1975. This is typical Soviet-era residential development: nine- and five-story panel buildings located along a wide roadway with green zones.
In building No. 45 on Druzhby Avenue lived the former chief architect of the city, Vagan Gaykovich Karkaryan — a man who largely shaped the appearance of Volzhsky. His apartment became a kind of museum of urban history, and the architect himself followed the development of the street he helped design until the end of his life.
Transport and road infrastructure
Druzhby Street is an important transport artery of Volzhsky. City bus routes run along the avenue, connecting residential neighborhoods with the city center, railway stations, and industrial zones. In 2024, as part of the national project "Safe Quality Roads," a major overhaul of a section of Druzhby Avenue was carried out — the asphalt surface was renewed, sidewalks and green areas were put in order.
Traffic on the street is intense at any time of day: in the morning and evening, peak loads can be observed when residents of residential areas go to work and return home. During the day, the flow is more even, but buses and cars move almost continuously.

Rows of multi-story buildings stretching to the horizon are visible — typical Volzhsky development of the 1970s–1980s. Between the buildings are green plantings: poplars, maples, and shrubs planted during the initial development.
On the right in the foreground, the roof of a multi-story residential building with ventilation devices and utilities is visible — a characteristic detail of panel architecture. In the background — urban development that shows the scale of the residential area: dozens of buildings, thousands of residents connected by common infrastructure.
