Intersection of 4th Chelyuskintsev and 21st Amurskaya in Omsk — Online Webcam
The Intersection That Remembers the "Chelyuskin"
The intersection of 4th Chelyuskintsev and 21st Amurskaya Streets is one of those Omsk crossroads where traffic flows converge at an awkward angle, and drivers know every meter of road markings by heart. It is a key junction of Amursky Posyolok, connecting the northeastern part of the Central District with the rest of the city. 4th Chelyuskintsev Street was named in honor of the Chelyuskintsy — participants of the 1934 expedition, when the steamship "Chelyuskin" was crushed by ice in the Chukchi Sea, and the crew survived on an ice floe until rescuers arrived. The "4th" numbering indicates that this is the fourth street in a row of similarly named thoroughfares in Amursky Posyolok.
21st Amurskaya — A Highway with History
21st Amurskaya Street is one of the transport arteries of Amursky Posyolok, which occupies the northeastern part of Omsk's Central Administrative District. There were once 36 Amurskaya streets, but over time they were reduced to 21. For a long time, this street remained the only road leading to Stepnoy settlement and the 10th RVSN platform. The main public transport terminus in the area is "21st Amurskaya Street," served by routes 45, 49, 29, 46, 51, 94, and 101.
A Transport Junction with Character
The intersection of 4th Chelyuskintsev and 21st Amurskaya is a junction that also includes Bagration Street. Local residents know the nearby intersection of 24th Severnaya and Chelyuskintsev by its unofficial name "ugol" (coal) — a place with a high accident rate due to conflicting traffic flows: three lanes versus four create constant tension on the road. Periodically, the junction undergoes heating network modernization works with traffic restrictions, adding to drivers' difficulties.
Architecture Around the Intersection
4th Chelyuskintsev Street is located in the historic part of Amursky Posyolok. Buildings of different eras stand side by side here — from pre-revolutionary brick mansions to modern commercial facilities. The street is home to Omskoblgaz JSC (building 6A), a multifunctional auto complex (building 70), as well as shops and retail rows. Some historical buildings have been rebuilt and lost their original appearance, but retain high ceilings and stucco elements.
How Amursky Posyolok Is Changing
The area was developed in several stages. "Amursky-1" is a low-rise residential area closer to dacha territories, "Amursky-2" is a large housing estate on 21st Amurskaya, and "Amursky-4" is another low-rise development. In 2022–2023, comprehensive development of the undeveloped territory began in the area of 21st Amurskaya Street. The investor became LLC "Zavod Stroitelnykh Konstruktsiy No. 1," which won the auction in March 2023. Between Pushkinsky Trakt and 21st Amurskaya Street, a new residential complex with multi-story buildings is planned.
