An event called "Farewell, Old Tokachi Bridge" was held in honor of the old bridge, and on the Obihiro side, the supports of the former structure are still preserved — they serve as a reminder of the region's transportation history.

The new bridge became an important transportation link in eastern Hokkaido. It provides a connection between Obihiro — a major city in the Tokachi region — and Otofuke, which is a suburb and an important agricultural center.
