How the Dagestan satellite city is organized

Kaspiysk is located on the shore of the Caspian Sea 14 km from the Makhachkala railway station. The city is a satellite of Makhachkala and is part of the Makhachkala-Kaspiysk agglomeration. The population of the region is about 120 thousand people. Kaspiysk is one of the youngest cities in Dagestan and Russia: short winter (2–3 months) and hot summer.

The coastline of Kaspiysk is being actively developed: the city beach and the landscaped embankment have become a popular place for walks with views of the Caspian Sea a unique attraction. The city is developing as an industrial and tourist center on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea.

History through the industrial lens

Kaspiysk was founded in 1932. In a short time, the settlement transformed from a fishing village into an industrial city. Kaspiysk is one of the most important ports on the Caspian Sea. In the summer of 1942, the port became the main maritime gateway for supplying troops of the Transcaucasian Front, through which the evacuation of goods and population from the frontline zone took place historical significance.

Today, historical landmarks have been preserved in the city: the "Grieving Mother" memorial in memory of residents who died in WWII, as well as memorial sites related to aviation.

What the Caspian coast offers vacationers

Beaches have been set up on the shores of Kaspiysk, attracting vacationers from Dagestan and neighboring regions. The landscaped sandy beach "Laguna" has a length of 150 meters and a width of 30 meters. The shoreline with breakwaters made of rock gives the beach an original look. Near the beach there is a children's complex and a paid parking lot.

In summer, the water off the coast of Kaspiysk warms up to 23–26°C, the air heats up to 25–29°C, in June heat up to 40°C is possible. During this period, swimming and sunbathing are popular in the morning and evening. According to experts, the Caspian seal inhabits the Caspian Sea a unique object of biological diversity.

The city embankment is used by both local residents and guests of Kaspiysk — there are cafes, walking areas and views of the Caspian Sea the decoration of the coast.

The main maritime artery of the city

Kaspiysk is not only an industrial center and tourist destination, but also a port capital. On the embankment there are maritime attractions: Caspian Park with a snow-white lighthouse, a naval museum and "Fort Boyard" — a factory workshop of the "Dagdizel" plant standing in the open sea an interesting architectural object. These places have become recognizable symbols and attract lovers of maritime history.

The industrial potential of Kaspiysk is closely connected with the coast: shipping, industrial sites and the embankment form a single urban development complex that combines history and modernity.

Pedestrian street with an aviation symbol

In the center of the city runs a street named after twice Hero of the Soviet Union Amet-Khan Sultan. A monument to the pilot and busts of him are installed in the cities of Alupka, Kaspiysk, Makhachkala, Feodosia, Yaroslavl and in the village of Tsovkra a popular object of civic veneration. Amet-Khan Sultan is buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow a highly respected figure. The street becomes a living memorial and a symbol of courage and internationalism.

Landmarks that have not lost their historical connection with the water

Kaspiysk is developing as a dynamic city on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, where connections with the maritime past have been preserved. The "Laguna" beach, city embankment, park areas and port attractions continue to tell the story of the coast's development from the early 20th century to the present day.
