How the modern appearance was formed

In 1943, the settlement received the status of an urban-type settlement, and in 1952 it became a city of district subordination. In 1963, the status changed to regional subordination. The Kalachinskaya railway station and the station building became symbols of the city, opened in 1896 as part of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The two-story brick station building, built in 1987, became a new landmark of the city, replacing the old wooden structure.
