Dorozhnikov and Sheksninskaya Intersection in Volgograd — Online Webcam
Intersection at the Junction of Two Major Arteries in Dzerzhinsky District
The intersection of Dorozhnikov Proyezd and Sheksninskaya Street is one of the key transport hubs in the Dzerzhinsky District of Volgograd. This district has a long history: it existed even before the revolution, although it was located in a different area at that time. Today, the Dzerzhinsky District is a densely populated residential area where the intersection of Dorozhnikov and Sheksninskaya serves as an important artery for thousands of motorists and public transport passengers.
Roundabout Instead of a T-Junction
The intersection infrastructure has undergone significant changes. At the intersection of Zemlyachki Street and Dorozhnikov Proyezd, a roundabout was created instead of a T-junction — the reconstruction was carried out by the district administration to improve traffic capacity. The intersection with Sheksninskaya Street itself is a wide area with a roundabout, dividing islands, and several lanes of traffic in each direction.
Baker Street Residential Complex and the Big Ben Clock Tower Building
Sheksninskaya Street is primarily known for the large-scale Baker Street residential complex. Sheksninskaya Street divides the residential quarter into two parts — the "Sherlock" and "Watson" quarters; as of 2024, 24 buildings have been completed. This is one of the largest integrated development projects in Volgograd.
The hallmark of the complex is a 9-story residential building at 95 Sheksninskaya Street with a unique chronometer on the facade that chimes every hour with Westminster chimes. The building received the unofficial name "Big Ben" and has become a local landmark. The chronometer was specially commissioned for the Baker Street residential complex and gives the quarter a distinctive appearance.
Tram Line and Public Transport
The transport accessibility of the intersection was significantly improved with the launch of a new route. On December 1, a new tram line was put into operation in the Zhilgorodok area — from Lyceum No. 7 to Dorozhnikov Proyezd with a new terminal stop "Zhilgorodok". This allowed residents of the microdistrict to travel directly to the city center without transfers.
In addition to the tram, other routes also pass through the intersection. Trolleybus No. 15a runs along Dorozhnikov Proyezd and Sheksninskaya Street from the "Bolnichny Kompleks" stop to the tram loop in Zhilgorodok. Also, minibus No. 56 stops at the "Dorozhnikov Proyezd" stop, providing additional connectivity with other districts of Volgograd.
Garage Cooperatives and Parking Zones
On Sheksninskaya Street there is the "Mekhanik" garage cooperative, and in the background of the intersection, rows of garage boxes are clearly visible. Around the intersection itself, there are parking zones with many parked passenger cars — a typical scene for a residential area where parking is a pressing issue. Near the building at 44 Dorozhnikov Proyezd, the established infrastructure includes several schools, shops, pharmacies, and cafes within walking distance.
Infrastructure and Surroundings
The intersection is surrounded by diverse urban development. To the left of the main traffic flow, small commercial buildings and shops are visible — typical retail outlets for a residential area. A monument is installed on the central island of the roundabout, serving as a visual landmark. On the right, there is a commercial building, and road work is periodically carried out with characteristic yellow barriers.
Near the intersection of Sheksninskaya Street and Dorozhnikov Proyezd, there is a pond, the area around which is being improved as part of the Baker Street residential complex project. In the background, railway tracks with moving trains are visible, as well as residential high-rise buildings that form the typical silhouette of a Volgograd residential area.
Traffic Conditions at Different Times of Day
The webcam at the Dorozhnikov and Sheksninskaya intersection allows you to assess the traffic situation at any time. During morning rush hours, there is increased load here — motorists head towards the city center and industrial zones. During the day, the flow thins out somewhat, but the intersection remains active thanks to public transport and deliveries to shops. In the evening, the direction of the main flow reverses — residents return home.
At night, traffic is minimal but does not stop completely — minibuses and passenger cars periodically pass by. The railway tracks in the background also remain active — freight and passenger trains run on schedule.
