History of Radio Shanson
Radio Shanson is one of Russia's most recognizable radio stations, broadcasting in Moscow on FM 103.0. The start date of broadcasting — August 15, 2000 — is known to all loyal listeners. However, the station's roots go deeper: back in 1994, the program "Night Taxi" launched on Radio ROKS, featuring the Zhemchuzhnye Brothers and Anton Yakovlev. It was from this program that the future giant of the genre branched off.
The general director of the radio station is Andrei Neklyudov, who brought the project into the ranks of media market leaders. In 2025, the radio station celebrated its 25th anniversary — and did it in grand style, launching a morning show from the PANORAMA360 observation deck on the Ostankino Tower at a height of 327 meters above Moscow.
Studio on Zubarev Lane — The Heart of Broadcasting
The Radio Shanson studio is located in the Alekseevsky district of Moscow, at Zubarev Lane, 15k1, in the Chayka Plaza business center. This is a modern building with advanced equipment for round-the-clock broadcasting. It is from here that the program goes on air every day, listened to by millions across Russia.
The live broadcast can not only be heard on the radio but also watched — an online camera is installed in the studio, broadcasting everything happening in real time. This is one of the few radio stations in the country where viewers can observe the work of presenters, the arrival of guests, and the preparation of music segments.
Format and Evolution of the Airwaves
If at launch the airwaves featured predominantly criminal songs, over the years the station's format has significantly expanded. Today's program includes bard music, urban romance, Russian jazz, rock music, songs from films, Soviet and Russian pop. In recent years, Basta, Polina Gagarina, and Naik Borzov have appeared on the air — the radio station actively attracts a younger audience while not forgetting its traditional listeners.
The musical design of the studio varies depending on the program: morning shows are dynamic, daytime broadcasts are more relaxed, and the evening airwaves are often dedicated to classic chanson and romance.
Stars and Guests of the Studio
Over 25 years of Radio Shanson's existence, dozens of artists have visited the studio. Legends of the genre — Mikhail Krug, Alexander Rosenbaum, Mikhail Shufutinsky, Lyubov Uspenskaya, Irina Krug, Stas Mikhailov, Sergey Trofimov, Alexander Novikov, Viktor Korolyov, the Lesopoval group — all of them have gone on air from this studio.
Pop stars — Grigory Leps, Valery Meladze, Yury Antonov, Oleg Gazmanov, Alexander Marshal, Slava, Yaroslav Sumishevsky — also regularly visit the studio for interviews and live performances.
Contemporary artists — Polina Gagarina, Basta, Naik Borzov, Evgeny Kemerovsky, Kai Metov, Denis Mafik, Alla Reed, the Vorovyovki and BumeR groups — represent the new generation of music on the station's airwaves.
Chanson of the Year Award
The annual awards ceremony in the chanson genre — "Chanson of the Year" — is one of the main events in the country's musical life. In 2025, the jubilee 25th ceremony took place at the Live Arena venue. The special "Crystal Helm" award and the title of "Legend of Velvet Chanson" were presented to Evgeny Kemerovsky.
The ceremony is usually hosted by the station's presenters, and preparation for it takes place right in the studio, which can be seen via the online webcam.
