Marina Kaštela Port — online webcam with harbor view
View of Marina Kaštela Yacht Port
This webcam shows the harbor of Marina Kaštela — one of the popular yacht ports on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. The camera is positioned so that the frame captures the mooring area with vessels, the town's buildings, and the mountain range on the horizon. If you are planning a trip to this part of the Adriatic or simply want to see the Croatian coast — the online camera gives you the opportunity to see everything in real time.
Where Marina Kaštela Is Located
Marina is located in Central Dalmatia, in the Kaštela Bay, approximately 20 km west of Split and 10 km east of Trogir. It is a young settlement that is part of the Kaštela municipality — a group of seven historic settlements stretching along the coast. From Split Airport, you can drive here in about 25-30 minutes along the coastal road.
Kaštela Bay is protected from the open sea by the islands of Čiovo and Šolta, so the water here is calm and waves are rarely high. This makes Marina a convenient berth for yachts and boats, especially during the winter season when the open Adriatic Sea is rough.
History of the Region: Seven Castles
The name of the Kaštela region historically derives from 7 castle fortresses (Kaštel Stari, Novi, Lukšić, Kambelovac, Gomilica, Surač, and Štafilić) built in the 15th–16th centuries by local nobles to defend against the Ottoman Empire. Each fortress belonged to a separate family and controlled its own stretch of coastline. Today, these castles are separate settlements that are gradually merging into a single urban agglomeration.
Marina itself is the youngest of them — it began developing only in the 20th century as a fishing village and later transformed into a tourist and yachting center. Old stone houses and narrow streets in the town center contrast with the modern port infrastructure.
Marina Kaštela Yacht Port
Marina Kaštela yacht port has 450 berths on the water and 300 on land. It is one of the largest marinas in the region, capable of accommodating yachts up to 40 meters in length. The port infrastructure includes a travel lift for hauling vessels out of the water, a repair workshop, a fuel station, as well as water and electricity supply to the berths and Wi-Fi access.
During the high season, from May to September, the port is filled with yachts from various countries — Germany, Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. In winter, vessels laid up for storage remain here, as well as motor yachts that use Marina as a base for year-round living. The camera shows how the occupancy of the berths changes depending on the season.
What to See in the Surroundings
Within a 20-30 km radius of Marina, there are two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the historic town of Trogir and Diocletian's Palace in Split. Trogir is a small island town with well-preserved medieval architecture, a Romanesque cathedral, and the Kamerlengo Fortress. It can be reached by car in 15-20 minutes.
Split is the second-largest city in Croatia, known for the giant palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian, built in the 4th century. The palace occupies the entire historic part of the city and is listed by UNESCO as one of the best-preserved palaces of antiquity.
Also nearby are Krka National Park with its famous waterfalls and the Cetina River canyon, popular for rafting and canyoning.
Climate and Weather in Marina Kaštela
The climate of Split Dalmatia is typically Mediterranean: average temperature in July is +27°C, in January around +7-8°C. Summer here is hot and dry, with minimal rainfall in June-August. Winter is mild but rainy — the bulk of precipitation falls from November to February.
The nature of the region is characterized by rocky pebble beaches and evergreen pine forests that reach right to the water's edge. The water clarity in Kaštela Bay is usually high — visibility reaches 10-15 meters, making these places attractive for diving and snorkeling.
The bora wind (northeasterly) in winter can bring sudden cold and strong gusts, but in the bay it is felt weaker than in the open sea. In summer, the mistral blows — a light daytime sea breeze that brings coolness during the hottest hours.
How to Get to Marina Kaštela
The nearest airport is Split (SPU), located 20 km to the east. Flights from Moscow are operated with connections (usually in Belgrade, Vienna, or Istanbul), with a travel time of at least 6 hours. During the summer season, charter flights from many European cities become available.
From Split Airport to Marina, you can get by bus (route No. 37 to Trogir with a stop in Kaštela), by taxi (about 25-30 euros), or by rental car. The road runs along the coast with views of the sea and islands.
You can also arrive from Zagreb via the A1 highway (about 4 hours of travel) or from Dubrovnik (about 3.5 hours). Ferry connections to the islands are limited — the nearest major ferry port is in Split.
What Is Visible on the Camera
The online camera shows the central part of the Marina Kaštela harbor. In the foreground is an asphalt parking lot with marked parking spaces and road arrows, where visitors' cars are parked. Various types of vessels are moored at the pier: the white fishing vessel KELI, the vessel DA 32, and a red-and-white vessel in the right part of the frame are visible.
In the background, there is a view of the harbor waters, where yacht masts sway, and the urban development of Marina Kaštela — multi-story residential buildings with tiled roofs. Behind the urban area, a mountain range is visible that closes the horizon. In clear weather, the camera allows you to observe vessel movements at the harbor entrance and how the lighting changes throughout the day.
