Brela Coast — Online Webcam in Real Time
Introduction: Brela and Its Coast
Brela is a small but incredibly picturesque resort town on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. Located in Split-Dalmatia County, it attracts travelers with its crystal-clear water, pebble beaches, and stunning landscapes where the green slopes of Mount Biokovo descend directly into the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea. The webcam with a view of Brela's coast allows you to observe this beauty in real time — a calm bay, coniferous trees in the foreground, and a mountainous shore in the distance.
Geographical Location of Brela
Brela is situated on the Adriatic coast of Dalmatia, approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Makarska. The resort is 65 km from Split and consists of two parts: Brela proper (the lower part by the sea) and Gornja Brela (the upper part, located on the slopes). Almost all of Gornja Brela lies within the Biokovo Nature Park, which protects it from strong winds and provides a unique microclimate.
Makarska Riviera — The Pearl of the Adriatic
Brela is rightfully called the "Pearl of the Makarska Riviera" — a resort region stretching almost 60 km from Gradac to Brela, encompassing 16 small resorts on the Adriatic coast. The Makarska Riviera is also known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic" thanks to its numerous bays with beautiful pebble beaches and picturesque landscapes. This region is considered one of the most attractive beach vacation destinations along the entire Adriatic coast of Croatia.
Brela Stone — The Symbol of the Resort
The main symbol of Brela and the most common motif on postcards is the Brela Stone — a natural landmark that is a fragment of a giant rock that once rolled down from the peaks of the Biokovo mountain range straight into the sea. This stone is located 10 meters from the shore, near Dugi Rat (Punta Rat) beach, is the size of a two-story house, and is covered with pine trees growing on it. There are many legends about the origin of the stone, explaining how it ended up in the sea off the coast.
Nature and Landscapes
The resort is sheltered from the winds by mountains and wrapped in a mantle of bright green pines, huge cacti, agaves, and other Mediterranean plants. The Biokovo mountain range, towering above the coast, creates a unique landscape: on one side — the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea, on the other — rugged rocky slopes. The water off Brela's coast is so clear that visibility reaches 50 meters. This makes Brela's coast one of the best places for snorkeling and observing the underwater world.
Brela Beaches
In 2004, Punta Rat beach (Brela's main beach) was recognized as one of the best beaches in Europe. The total length of Brela's beaches is about 6 km. Pebble beaches with crystal-clear water, framed by pine groves, create ideal conditions for relaxation. Many of the resort's beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and environmental friendliness.
History and Population
Brela's population is about 1,771 people. The history of this Dalmatian town spans more than 2,000 years. Over this time, Brela has evolved from a small fishing village into one of the most prestigious resorts on the Adriatic. Today it is a modern tourist center with developed infrastructure that has preserved its traditional Dalmatian charm.
What You Can See on the Camera
The webcam with a view of Brela's coast broadcasts a panoramic view of the seacoast with dense coniferous trees (cypresses and pines) in the foreground. The calm water surface of the bay with a slight ripple is visible. In the background — a mountainous shore with buildings and structures along the coast on the left. Between the trees, a narrow strip of shoreline and sandy beach can be seen. In the distance on the horizon, mountain silhouettes are visible. The camera is positioned on an elevation providing a view of the bay and coastal area. The online broadcast allows you to observe Brela's coast in real time — see the changing light throughout the day, vessel movement, and sea conditions.
