KCRB Medical District in Konakovo — Online Webcam Stream
Konakovo — a city with a faience history
Konakovo is a city in the Tver Region of Russia, located on the banks of the Ivankovo Reservoir. It is a place with a rich history, inextricably linked to ceramic production. In 1809, a faience factory was founded in the village of Domkino (Voronykha), which was relocated to the hamlet of Kuznetsovo in 1826. The enterprise became known not only throughout Russia but also abroad, and its products were even supplied to the imperial court. In 1929, the settlement of Kuznetsovo was renamed Konakovo following a competition, based on a proposal by factory worker Maria Ilyutina. Today, Konakovo is a modern city with developed infrastructure, where old traditions coexist with new residential districts.
KCRB District: a medical microdistrict on the city map
The KCRB microdistrict in Konakovo was built in the 1990s and comprises a complex of residential buildings and healthcare facilities. It is a kind of "city within a city," where everything is tailored to the needs of medical staff and patients. The development consisted mainly of five-story buildings typical of that period. The district takes its name from the acronym of the Central District Hospital, which became the core enterprise for this part of Konakovo. Today, it houses not only medical buildings but also residential blocks, shops, and kindergartens — everything necessary for the lives of those who have dedicated their careers to medicine.
Konakovo Central District Hospital: the main hospital of the region
GBUZ "Konakovo Central District Hospital" was registered on March 5, 1998, and operates as a state budgetary healthcare institution. It is the largest medical facility in the Konakovo district, receiving patients from across the entire region. In 2024, Dmitry Orlov took over as head of the hospital, a former HR specialist from the Ministry of Health of the Tver Region, who replaced the previous management and began modernizing the institution. The hospital employs professional doctors, including Mikhail Anatolyevich Pleshanov, head of the emergency department, who celebrated his jubilee and has dedicated many years of his life to medicine. The trauma department is headed by Mironets Roman Semyonovich, whom patients thank for his professionalism and compassion.
Architecture and development of the 1990s
The KCRB microdistrict is a typical example of the construction boom of the last decade of the 20th century. Five-story panel buildings, well-maintained courtyards, and wide roadways — all were designed with the mass relocation of medical workers in mind. Unlike the old part of Konakovo, where pre-revolutionary buildings and the private sector have been preserved, the KCRB district was built according to a unified plan. It included not only residential premises but also utility systems, boiler houses, and water supply networks. The GRES town, located on the opposite bank of the Donkhovka, was built simultaneously and also predominantly with five-story buildings, creating a distinctive architectural ensemble of the new part of the city.
Renowned doctors and medical dynasties
Konakovo Central District Hospital is known for its medical traditions. It employs doctors whose names are familiar to every resident of the district. Mikhail Anatolyevich Pleshanov is a therapist and head of the emergency department who has spent many years saving the lives of patients admitted in critical condition. His colleague Mironets Roman Semyonovich heads the trauma department and is known for his professional skills. In 2018, two children born in 2018 and 2019 were admitted to the intensive care unit, but thanks to the coordinated work of the medical staff, their lives were saved from danger. Today, under the leadership of Chief Physician Dmitry Orlov, the hospital continues to develop, introducing new methods of treatment and diagnosis.
Infrastructure and transport accessibility
The KCRB district has good transport accessibility. From here, it is easy to reach the center of Konakovo, where the main shops, markets, and administrative institutions are located. In the Zaborye microdistrict, near KCRB, the "Konakovo River Club" cottage settlement has been built, featuring a hotel, guest houses, a sports center with a pool and bowling alley, and a yacht club — a popular recreation spot for both local residents and visitors to the city. The Konakovo fish farm, founded in 1973, achieved a world first in 1981 by obtaining offspring from the Lena sturgeon, which brought the city nationwide fame. In 2009, an enterprise was opened in Konakovo, where visitors can immerse themselves in the historical past of the famous faience factory.
