Egoza Mountain — the highest point of the Southern Urals

Egoza Mountain rises above Kyshtym at 607.7 meters — it is the highest point of the southern part of the Middle Urals and the dominant peak of the entire Kyshtym mountain chain. The summit offers panoramic views for tens of kilometers: in clear weather, the outlines of the Sugomak Ridge, lakes, and vast Ural forests can be seen. It is here, on the northeastern slope, that the ski resort operates, which in the winter months attracts skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts from across the Chelyabinsk region. Ski resort: runs and lifts

The Egoza ski resort is a compact but diverse destination. The elevation difference on the runs is 250 meters, and on the most extended routes, the descent length reaches 2.9 km. The core consists of two runs on the northeastern side of the mountain: "Camel" 1500 m long with a width of 20 to 60 m and "Sportivnaya" — 1200 m with a width of 25 to 60 m. The runs are served by three lifts: a six-person chairlift, a two-person chairlift, and a T-bar. Slope maintenance is carried out by Austrian snowcats, ensuring stable snow cover quality even during thaw periods.

How to get to Egoza Mountain

The ski resort is located 5 km west of Kyshtym in the Chelyabinsk region. Coordinates for the navigator: 55.754666, 60.468798. From Chelyabinsk, the journey is about 110 km along the Yekaterinburg – Chelyabinsk highway with a turn toward Kasli. The road is paved and regularly cleared in winter. The parking lot at the foot of the mountain accommodates several hundred cars; on weekends during peak season, it's best to arrive at opening time.

Nature and landscapes around Egoza

The surroundings of Egoza Mountain are part of the Sugomak Natural Territorial Complex — a unique place where mountain ranges coexist with pristine lakes and caves. The landscape around Egoza is a combination of rock outcrops, coniferous forests, and open meadows. From the summit, you can see Lake Sugomak with its crystal-clear water, and among the shrub thickets, you can find a semi-ruined locomotive depot — a local historical site preserved from the days of narrow-gauge railway construction. The coniferous forest on the slopes is predominantly pine, with occasional spruce and fir mixed in.

In summer, the ski resort transforms: instead of skiers, the slopes are explored by hikers and cyclists. A network of "Egoza-Sugomak" eco-trails stretching almost 25 km operates, connecting mountain peaks, Sugomak Cave, and Lake Sugomak. The marked routes are suitable for hiking of any difficulty — from short weekend walks to multi-day treks. Seasonal features of the resort

The winter season at Egoza typically starts in December and lasts until April — Ural frosts and heavy snowfalls create conditions for extended skiing. The runs are lit, and evening skiing is available. In the off-season, the mountain attracts hiking and photography enthusiasts: in spring, the slopes are covered with bright moss, and in autumn, the coniferous forest is interspersed with golden touches of deciduous trees. The bike park on the slopes of Egoza operates in the summer months, offering runs of varying difficulty levels for downhill and freeride.

The camera is mounted on the cable car structure of the ski resort and is directed downward at the mountain slope. In the frame — the "Sportivnaya" run, the lift, the run-out, and panoramic views of the resort. The load-bearing cables of the lift, the gravel-stone path, the pine coniferous forest on the slope, green grass, and undergrowth are clearly visible. An orange marker sign can be seen on the ground.
