Taoyuan International Airport is Taiwan's largest aviation hub, serving the island's capital Taipei and the northern regions of the country. South Runway: Technical Specifications

The south runway of Taoyuan Airport is designated 05R/23L, with a length of 3,800 meters and a width of 60 meters. This allows it to accommodate aircraft of all classes, including heavy wide-body airliners Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 with maximum takeoff weight. Both runways of the airport — north and south — provide a total capacity of over 60 aircraft per hour.

The distance between the axes of the north and south runways is 1,506 meters, which ensures safe parallel operation of both runways while maintaining intervals between aircraft. The south runway is equipped with a precision approach system Category I, allowing landing at 550 meters visibility and 60 meters decision height. Major renovation of the south runway was carried out in January 2015 with surface resurfacing and modernization of lighting equipment.

Terminal 2 Observation Deck: Viewing Point

The webcam is installed at the observation deck — Observation Deck, located on the fifth floor of Terminal 2 of Taoyuan Airport. Access to the deck is open to all visitors: the entrance is on the south side of Terminal 2, in the C gates area, the ascent is via escalators and elevators. The deck is equipped with an open wooden deck and wire mesh fencing, through which it is convenient to photograph aircraft without glare and distortion.

From this point, there is a panoramic view of the south runway, taxiways, apron areas and aircraft fuselages taxiing to the terminal gates. Both passenger airliners of China Airlines and EVA Air, as well as cargo aircraft serving one of the largest cargo hubs in Asia, fall into the field of view.

Transport Accessibility: How to Get to the Airport

Taoyuan Airport is connected to Taipei by the Airport MRT line — a rapid transit system linking the airport terminals with the city center. The express train takes about 1 hour, and the fare is approximately 4-6 dollars. You can also get from the airport to Taipei by bus on several routes or by taxi — all three options take about 1 hour depending on traffic on the expressway.

Airlines and Destinations

Taoyuan Airport serves flights of dozens of international airlines connecting Taipei with cities in Asia, Europe, North America and Australia. China Airlines operates transatlantic flights to London, Amsterdam and Vienna, as well as a dense network of routes across Asia. EVA Air specializes in long-haul flights to the USA and Canada, offering flights to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and Seattle. Low-cost carriers — Tigerair Taiwan, Scoot and AirAsia — provide regional flights across Southeast Asia.

Airport Infrastructure

Taoyuan Airport has two passenger terminals and a third terminal, construction of which is ongoing. Terminal 1 mainly serves China Airlines flights and regional destinations, Terminal 2 — EVA Air and long-haul flights. A free shuttle runs between the terminals. The airport territory features duty-free shops, restaurants and cafes with local cuisine, premium lounges, currency exchange offices and car rental offices.
