Volleyball Courts in Deerfield Beach — Online Webcam
Sports Zone at Deerfield Beach
Deerfield Beach is a resort city in Broward County in southeastern Florida, located 40 miles (64 km) north of Miami. This city with a population of about 90,000 people is famous for its sandy beaches and well-developed sports infrastructure. The volleyball courts here are not just a place to play, but a true hub for beach volleyball enthusiasts from across the region.
The Deerfield Beach volleyball zone includes 9 sand courts that operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry to the courts is free, making them accessible to everyone. The nets are set on wooden posts, and each court is equipped to beach volleyball standards. Games are typically played to 21 points.
Location of the Volleyball Courts
The courts are located north of the famous Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier — one of the city's main landmarks. The pier itself was built in 1951–1952 and has a length of 617 feet (about 188 meters). It is a wooden structure that historically served as a gathering place for locals and attracted seasonal tourists.
To the left of the volleyball zone is a beach pavilion with a roof and staircase — a typical element of Florida's beach infrastructure. The sandy shore stretches along the Atlantic Ocean, and coastal vegetation creates a natural backdrop for the sports zone. Thanks to this location, the courts are well ventilated by the ocean breeze, which is especially valuable on hot summer days.
History of Beach Volleyball in Deerfield Beach
The volleyball courts on this beach have existed since at least 1983 — a dated photograph showing a game on the sand has been preserved in the archives. Over the decades, the courts have become an integral part of Deerfield Beach's beach culture, evolving from spontaneous playing spots into an organized sports zone with regular tournaments.
Deerfield Beach has a rich history: the Hillsboro settlement was founded in 1890, and by 1898 a post office was already operating here, and the city received its modern name. Today it is a developed resort with a tropical climate, where beach volleyball has become one of the symbols of active recreation.
Tournaments and Events at the Courts
The Deerfield Beach volleyball courts are known for regular tournaments that attract players from across Florida. Key events include:
• AAU Deerfield Beach Blast — a tournament organized by S&S Events. In 2024, it took place on April 27–28 and brought together teams from different age categories.
• Deerfield Beach Bash — another major tournament from the same organizers, held at the beach courts.
These competitions transform ordinary volleyball courts into an arena for serious sporting battles, attracting spectators and participants. Even outside of tournaments, games are constantly played on the courts — from amateur matches to local team practices.
Climate and Best Conditions for Playing
Deerfield Beach is located in a tropical climate zone (Köppen Aw) with hot humid summers and warm dry winters. The average annual rainfall is 57.27 inches (1,455 mm), with June typically being the wettest month.
In winter, the average monthly temperature rarely drops below 18°C, making Deerfield Beach a popular vacation destination during the cold season. In summer, temperatures often reach 32–35°C, but the ocean breeze softens the heat. Thanks to this climate, the volleyball courts are used year-round — games are played here in both January and July.
Infrastructure and Accessibility
In addition to the volleyball courts, the Deerfield Beach beach area offers diverse infrastructure. Nearby is a Tennis Center with 6 lighted courts, and the pier itself is open to visitors from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. A fishing permit ($4) is required to fish from the pier, and admission to view the pier costs $1 for residents and $2 for non-residents.
The beach area is equipped with pavilions, showers, and changing rooms. Parking is available within a few minutes' walk from the volleyball courts. Thanks to this well-developed service, Deerfield Beach attracts not only athletes but also families with children, surfers, and simply beach recreation enthusiasts.
