Webcam of Levi Ski Resort in Kittilä, Finland
Levi Ski Resort: A View from Above
This online webcam opens up a panorama of one of the northernmost ski resorts in Europe. The camera is located in Kittilä, in the western part of Finnish Lapland, and is pointed toward the slopes of Levi fell. In the foreground is a snow-covered coniferous forest and a road leading into the winter landscape. In the distance, a mountain with lights is visible — these are illuminated ski runs that operate even after dark. The image displays current weather data: air temperature, wind speed, and humidity — everything you need to know before heading out on the slopes.
Geographic Location: Beyond the Arctic Circle
Levi resort is located at 67.8° north latitude, approximately 170 km north of the Arctic Circle. This makes it one of the northernmost ski resorts in Europe. The nearest town is Kittilä, about 15 kilometers from the slopes. Kittilä Airport, which receives flights from Helsinki and charter services, is the second largest airport in Finland after the capital's.
The mountain shown by the camera is called Levitunturi. Its height is 530–531 meters above sea level (1742 feet). The word "tunturi" in Finnish means "fell" — a type of mountain characteristic of Lapland. These are not Alpine peaks but gentle elevations with smooth slopes, perfect for skiing.
Zero Point: The Heart of the Resort
The central hub of Levi's ski infrastructure is Zero Point. Here, under one roof, you'll find ski pass sales, equipment rental, service centers, shops, and cafés. The ski bus stops, which connect different parts of the resort, are located in close proximity to the Zero Point complex. This is exactly the view our camera shows — a look at the resort's main transport and service hub.
Ski Season: October through May
Levi is the largest ski resort in Finland. It features 45 slopes, 15 of which are equipped with artificial lighting for evening skiing. The lift system comprises 26 lifts, including two gondola lifts — Levi is the only resort in Finland with such equipment.
The ski season here is one of the longest in Europe. The Zero Point infrastructure continues to operate until early May (according to tourist reviews — until May 8). April is considered the sunniest month at the resort: an average of 22 sunny days out of thirty.
Activity Park: Summer Activities
Levi is not just a winter resort. On the western slope of the mountain lies Levi Activity Park — the largest activity park in Northern Europe. In summer, it features a treetop adventure park, mountain bike trails (downhill and enduro), a scenic gondola lift, disc golf, mini golf, a zipline (Santa's Zipline), bungee jumping, and children's attractions. The camera shows the part of the mountain where the slopes are located in winter and the starting points for bike trails in summer.
How to Get to Levi from Kittilä
From Kittilä Airport, you can reach the resort by bus (about 20 minutes), taxi, or rental car. During winter holidays, charter flights and train services are organized from Moscow and St. Petersburg directly to Levi. Bus service between Kittilä and the resort is regular — the ski bus runs every 15–30 minutes during the season.
Infrastructure and Accommodation
Levi resort was founded in 1964 and has been named the best ski resort in Finland three times. The total number of bed places at the resort in 2015 was 24,000 — including 8 hotels, 6 apartment hotels, 1 hostel, and hundreds of cottages. This allows the resort to host tens of thousands of tourists simultaneously without creating queues at the lifts.
