South Point Slope of Levi Ski Resort in Kittilä — Online Webcam
Introduction: What the South Point Webcam Shows
The live webcam is installed on the South Point slope of Levi Ski Resort in Finnish Lapland. The real-time broadcast allows you to see the southern part of Levi mountain — the area where the resort's longest and gentlest runs are located. In the frame: a construction site with an orange Hitachi excavator, a yellow glass structure of the future cable car station, supports of existing lifts, and resort buildings with terraces. In the background, you can see the mountain slope covered with coniferous and deciduous forest, and a parking lot with cars.
South Slopes of Levi: Features and Purpose
South Point is the southern part of Levi Ski Resort, offering the longest and gentlest slopes on Levi mountain, ideal for beginners and family skiing. The total length of the resort's runs is 38.5 km, and the number of lifts reaches 26. The South Slopes feature a dedicated beginner zone where lessons and training sessions are held.
Levi Ski Resort boasts 44 runs of varying difficulty. The southern part of the resort is especially popular among families with children and those who are just mastering alpine skiing or snowboarding. Gentle descents and wide runs create comfortable conditions for learning.
What the Camera Shows in Real Time
The camera broadcasts a view of the South Point slope from a high vantage point. In the frame, you can observe:
— A construction site with an orange Hitachi excavator and a yellow glass structure — part of the new cable car station;
— Supports and cables of existing gondolas and chairlifts;
— Resort buildings, including a restaurant or hotel with a terrace;
— A parking lot with guests' vehicles;
— The mountain slope covered with coniferous and deciduous forest.
Depending on the season, the slope may be covered in snow or remain without snow cover — in the latter case, bare earth and grass are visible.
How to Get to South Point
Levi Ski Resort is located in the village of Sirkka, Kittilä municipality, 14 km from Kittilä Airport and 78 km from Kolari railway station. South Point is on the opposite side of Levi mountain from the central part of the resort; the main bus stop for the South Slopes is located here.
You can reach the slope by car — there is a parking lot nearby, which is visible in the camera. Buses also run between different parts of the resort, which is convenient for guests staying in various areas of Levi.
Seasonality: Winter and Summer on the Slope
The South Point webcam operates year-round, allowing you to observe the changing seasons in Finnish Lapland. In winter, the slope transforms into a busy ski area: the runs are covered with snow, lifts are operating, and skiers and snowboarders appear in the frame. In summer, the camera shows a green mountain landscape — coniferous and deciduous forest, grass, and earth on the slopes.
The construction site visible in the camera is part of a large-scale modernization of the South Slopes. During the 2014–2015 season, a new ski center was built on the South Slopes, including a six-person chairlift. Currently, work is underway to construct a new high-speed lift.
Night Skiing and Slope Lighting
Night skiing is possible in Levi thanks to illuminated slopes: 17 out of 43 runs are lit. This allows resort guests to ski after sunset, which is especially valuable given the short daylight hours in Lapland. The South Point camera at nighttime shows illuminated runs and operating lifts, creating a special atmosphere of a night ski resort.
Construction of the New Sunny Express Lift
For the 2026/27 season, a new six-person high-speed chairlift Sunny Express by Doppelmayr (D-Line series) is being built at South Point. The new lift is equipped with heated seats and belongs to the modern D-Line series, known for its reliability and comfort.
For the 2025/26 season, the southern slopes saw expanded runs, upgraded LED lighting, and an optimized snowmaking system. These improvements enhance skiing quality and allow the ski season to be extended even in warm weather conditions.
The construction site visible in the camera with the orange Hitachi excavator and yellow glass structure is the location where the new Sunny Express lift is being built. You can watch the construction progress right on screen — the webcam transmits images in real time.
