In the Camatta district, one of the commune's hamlets, lies the Grotta della Basura cave, where traces of human presence dating back 14,000 years have been discovered. This is the Upper Paleolithic era, when the first inhabitants of the Apennines sheltered in these caves, hunted mountain goats, and left stone tools on the cave walls.
