Porto Luca Ferrari in Alassio — Online Webcam
Porto Luca Ferrari: Marina History
A small tourist port on the western coast of Liguria bears the name of Luca Ferrari — son of Emanuele and Paola Doria dei Signori di Oneglia, who served as a squad commander and commander of the Spanish Navy. Today this marina, also known as Marina di Alassio or Porto di Alassio, is located on the Riviera di Ponente — the western part of the Italian Riviera, just 80 km from the French border. The town of Alassio has long established itself as a health resort in winter and a bathing destination in summer, with numerous hotels along the coast.
Marina di Alassio is a premium port with a rich history that continues to develop while preserving its coastal authenticity. The camera is installed on an elevated promenade with a stone parapet, offering a panoramic view of the harbor where yachts and private boats are moored.
Muretto di Alassio — Italian Walk of Fame
Alassio is often called the "City of Muretto" — this nickname is connected to the famous wall that has become a unique art installation. It all began around 1953, when the owner of the café "Caffe Roma" decided to decorate the wall of the public garden near the establishment. The idea was simple: to place colorful ceramic tiles with signatures and paintings of famous visitors on the wall.
The tradition continues to this day — hundreds of tiles with autographs of famous people cover the wall, turning it into a living document of the era. In the 1950s, Alassio was the capital of international high society during the "dolce vita" era, and Muretto became a symbol of that time. There is a legend that Ernest Hemingway stayed here, although this remains a subject of debate among historians.
Attractions in Alassio
Besides Muretto, the town offers many other interesting places. Budello — a cobblestone pedestrian street crossing the center of town, is the heart of Alassio. Here you'll find shops, restaurants, and cafés where you can enjoy local cuisine.
Sandy beaches and crystal-clear water are another reason to visit this town. Molo di Alassio or Pontile Bestoso — a pier with a view of the town, a popular place for walks. On the promenade there is also Capelleta — a small chapel visible from the marina.
Ecology and Blue Flag
Marina di Alassio has been awarded the Blue Flag for 19 consecutive years — international recognition for an environmentally clean port. This attests to the high standard of water quality and coastal infrastructure.
In collaboration with the municipal administration of Alassio, the port is transitioning to renewable energy — solar panels help reduce the carbon footprint. The entire port area is covered by Wi-Fi, and there are three toilet areas with showers for guests. The maximum draft for transit vessels is 2.80 meters, allowing the port to accommodate medium-sized yachts.
Gallinara Island and Diving
About a mile from the port lies Gallinara Island — a popular diving destination. Diving centers in Marina di Alassio organize dives to this island, which is a marine reserve with rich underwater life. On the camera, in good weather, you can see the outlines of this small rocky island on the horizon.
Budello and the Promenade
The population of Alassio is about 11,000 people, but during the tourist season the town welcomes many more guests. After World War II, during the "dolce vita" era, Alassio once again became a fashionable destination, especially among the English aristocracy.
Today it is a fashionable place in Liguria, known as a town where wealthy people live. Numerous bars and restaurants on the promenade offer Ligurian cuisine, and the pedestrian Budello area attracts shopping and gastronomy enthusiasts.
What the Camera Shows
The online camera is installed on an elevated promenade with a stone parapet and broadcasts a panoramic view of Porto Luca Ferrari. Along the breakwater, a row of flags on tall masts can be seen fluttering in the wind. In the harbor, yachts and private boats are moored — their number and arrangement change depending on the season and time of day.
In the foreground is the stone promenade with road surface and a parking area by the pier. In the distance, the sea and a small rocky island are visible — this is Gallinara. In clear weather, the camera offers a view of the entire Marina di Alassio bay, and in the background — hills covered with Mediterranean vegetation.
This live webcam allows you to observe the life of the port: how yachts enter the harbor, how the lighting changes throughout the day, how the wind flutters the flags on the masts. It's a great opportunity to see the Italian Riviera without leaving home.
