Hotel Helios in Blankenberge — Live Webcam
Hotel Helios Location on the North Sea Frontline
Hotel Helios is part of the CW Hotel Collection and occupies the seafront in the resort town of Blankenberge. Four stars and a 9.6 out of 10 location rating on Tripadvisor speak for themselves — this is one of the best options for a beach holiday on the Belgian coast. Panoramic room windows face the North Sea directly, and the sandy strip is just steps away.
Belle Époque: The Golden Age of Blankenberge
Blankenberge is one of Belgium's oldest seaside resorts, whose transformation into an elite holiday destination began in the 19th century. The city's golden age fell during the Belle Époque (1870–1914), when European aristocracy built luxurious villas here en masse. An entire quarter with Art Nouveau and Belle Époque mansions has survived to this day — a stroll through it is a separate reason to visit the city.
Blankenberge Pier — The Only One on the Belgian Coast
The main attraction of Blankenberge is its pier. The first pier on the Atlantic and northern coast of Europe appeared here as early as 1894. The current structure visible on the camera was built in 1933 to a design by architect Jules Soete in Art Deco style. The concrete circular structure extends about 350 meters into the sea and remains the only pier of its kind on the entire Belgian coast. In Europe, a similar structure can only be found in Dutch Scheveningen.
Architectural Heritage of the Resort
Near Hotel Helios is the Belle Epoque Centrum — a museum occupying three restored villas built in 1894. The interactive exhibition tells about resort life at the beginning of the 20th century: fashion, entertainment, sea bathing in period costumes. Within walking distance there are also many restaurants, shops, and cafes in the central pedestrian zone.
Natural Areas: Zeebos Forest and the Coast
The Belgian coast is famous for its wide sandy beaches with a gentle slope into the water — it's comfortable to relax here with children. The pine forest Zeebos between Blankenberge and Zeebrugge offers shady alleys for walks and bike rides, and the mild maritime climate allows strolling along the promenade at any time of year.
