Intersection Internatsionalnaya — Neftyanikov: Live Webcam
A Vibrant Intersection in the Heart of the Oil Capital
The intersection of Internatsionalnaya and Neftyanikov is one of the key transport arteries of Nizhnevartovsk, where two important directions of the city meet. This live webcam shows a multi-lane road crossing with pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, and road markings. Cars continuously move along the roadway in both directions, and there is a bus stop with a canopy on the sidewalk area. Around the roads are green lawns, trees, and shrubs, and on the left runs a drainage channel framed by vegetation. In the lower part of the frame, an asphalt parking area with parked cars is visible. Street lights and lighting poles operate throughout the area.
From Monument to Name: The History of the Place
The Neftyanikov Square, adjacent to this intersection, has long remained a central symbol of the city. On July 15, 1978, the monument "Conquerors of Samotlor" was solemnly opened here — one of the main symbols of Nizhnevartovsk. At the time of its installation, it was the largest monument in the entire Tyumen Region. Interestingly, the prototype of the sculpture was a real person — driller Fyodor Metrusenko, an honorary resident of the city.
Internatsionalnaya Street, which crosses the city from east to west, received its name later. On January 10, 1979, Street No. 16, leading right up to the "Conquerors of Samotlor" monument, was given the name "Internatsionalnaya". Since then, this avenue has become one of the main thoroughfares of Nizhnevartovsk.
Infrastructure Around the Intersection
The area around the Internatsionalnaya — Neftyanikov intersection is densely built up and well-developed. Located here is the "Podsolnukh" (Sunflower) shopping center at 1 Internatsionalnaya Street, building 2 — it was commissioned on October 1, 1996, by JSC "Nizhnevartovskspetsstroy". Nearby is the housing and maintenance office ZhEU-20 at 19v Internatsionalnaya Street. The "Ulitsa Neftyanikov" public transport stop is located directly on Internatsionalnaya Street, making the intersection convenient for pedestrians.
Among the informal landmarks is the sculpture of a janitor with a broom "Uncle Misha", one of the city residents' favorite monuments, located in the Neftyanikov Square area. And on the sand hill near the intersection, letters were once laid out resembling the Hollywood sign — a popular art object for photographs.
Road Changes in 2024
The Internatsionalnaya — Neftyanikov intersection remains one of the busiest in Nizhnevartovsk. In 2024, traffic rules were changed here: left turns are now prohibited at the intersection. This innovation sparked discussions among drivers but is intended to streamline traffic on the busy thoroughfare.
How to Get to the Intersection
The Internatsionalnaya — Neftyanikov intersection is located in the central part of Nizhnevartovsk, in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — Yugra. You can get here by public transport: the "Ulitsa Neftyanikov" stop is located right on Internatsionalnaya Street. For motorists, landmarks include Neftyanikov Square and the "Conquerors of Samotlor" monument — Internatsionalnaya Street runs all the way to the monument, crossing the city from east to west.
Seasonal Features of the Intersection
The intersection looks different depending on the time of year, although the webcam shows it live around the clock. In winter, the roads are often covered with snow, snow removal equipment operates, and traffic slows down due to the harsh weather conditions of Yugra. In summer, the green lawns and trees around the intersection create a more picturesque view, and there are noticeably more pedestrians at the crossings.
