Sebastian Kneipp and the Philosophy of Healing
The garden is named after Sebastian Kneipp — a Catholic priest, naturopathic physician, and physiotherapist, and one of the founders of naturopathy. He was born on May 17, 1821 in Stephansried, Bavaria, and died on June 17, 1897 in Bad Wörishofen.
In 1848, Kneipp contracted tuberculosis, and doctors gave a grim prognosis. He independently studied medical literature and cured himself through hydrotherapy. This personal experience became the foundation of his natural healing system.
Kneipp's philosophy encompasses five elements of natural healing: hydrotherapy, exercise therapy, herbal medicine therapy, harmony therapy, and healthy nutrition. The motto of his approach: "Water cures everything, water works wonders, prevention is better than cure."
