Aquapark Kohoutovice: the only indoor aqua center in Brno

In the Kohoutovice residential district in the southwest of Brno, there is a unique facility — the only aquapark in Brno, known to locals and visitors as Aquapark Kohoutovice. This is not just a swimming pool, but a full-fledged water and wellness complex where you can spend an entire day. The complex was conceived as an expansion of an indoor pool that had existed since the school era. In 2004, the expansion project was prepared, and construction began in 2006. The investor was the Statutory City of Brno, which underscores the significance of the facility for the infrastructure of the second-largest city in the Czech Republic.

Architecture: wood, light, and organic forms

The aquapark building draws attention with its unusual design. The supporting system and cladding of the pool hall are made of wood — a unique wooden structure creates a warm, natural atmosphere uncharacteristic of typical sports facilities. The project was developed by architects from the K4 architects&engineers bureau — Vladimír Pacek, Miloš Schneider, Josef Dundáček, and Markéta Benýšková. The supporting system design was done by Bohumil Straka and Milan Šmak.

The construction site was tight, but the architects found an elegant solution: the organic curved forms of the building create a sense of spaciousness, and inside you don't feel cramped at all. Large windows let in natural light, and wooden beams on the ceiling add coziness.

Water zones and attractions

Aquapark Kohoutovice offers a variety of water entertainment for visitors of all ages. In addition to the recreational area shown by the camera, the complex features a 25-meter sports pool with six lanes for fitness swimming. The facility is actively used not only by vacationers but also by schools and sports clubs.

The aquapark features: a large swimming pool, a children's pool, a pool with massage jets and a 'lazy river,' a small pool for infants, a jacuzzi, and one long water slide. After water treatments, visitors can enjoy the sauna, bar, and restaurant.

The webcam is installed in the recreational area of Aquapark Kohoutovice and shows the interior of the pool with several functional zones. In the frame is the main pool with blue water, a hydromassage area with bubbling water, and a jacuzzi. Along the edges, decorative white tiled columns are installed, and in the water on a round platform sits a decorative palm tree. Nearby is a flower bed with tropical plants and decorative stones, creating a resort atmosphere.

The floor and edges are tiled, metal railings and ladders provide safe entry into the water. Advertising banners are visible on the walls and ceiling, and the wooden ceiling beams emphasize the unique architecture of the building. On the right are large windows through which bright daylight enters the hall. In the left part of the frame in the background, you can see visitors swimming in the pool.
