The camera overlooking Ourinhos Promenade allows you to see this atmosphere in real time — people walking on the cobblestones, classic street lamps, and commercial buildings with bright signs on both sides.
City of Ourinhos — general information
Ourinhos is a municipality in the western part of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, located approximately 370 km west of the state capital. According to the 2022 census, the city's population is about 104 thousand people, and by 2026 estimates — approximately 108 thousand. The city is part of the Ourinhos economic-statistical microregion and serves as a regional economic center.
The economy of Ourinhos has historically been based on agriculture — cotton farming, sugarcane, soybeans, and corn cultivation. However, today the city's economy is primarily driven by commerce and services. The city is home to a campus of São Paulo State University (UNESP) — the Faculty of Sciences, Technology, and Education, which attracts students from across the region.
Calçadão as an urban space
In Brazilian cities, a calçadão is a traditional pedestrian street or promenade, typically located in the commercial center. Such spaces emerged from urban policies aimed at restricting vehicle traffic in central areas and creating a comfortable environment for pedestrians. Ourinhos Promenade is a typical example of such a space: paved with cobblestones, with classic street lamps, benches for resting, and decorative planters with green plants.
Such pedestrian zones in Brazil often become centers of attraction — shops, cafes, pharmacies, and banks are concentrated here. The camera on Ourinhos Promenade shows exactly this kind of environment: commercial buildings with storefronts on both sides, people moving in different directions, and a white police car with "POLICIA" written on it in the foreground — evidence that the area is under constant surveillance for the safety of residents.
Location and infrastructure
Ourinhos Promenade is located in the central part of the city, making it easily accessible for residents and visitors. Ourinhos sits at an altitude of about 487 meters above sea level, and the climate here is tropical — warm with a pronounced rainy season from October to March. The city is connected to other settlements in the state by highways, including the SP-270.
The main commercial infrastructure is concentrated around the promenade: clothing stores, shoe shops, pharmacies, supermarkets, and food establishments. The presence of a police car on camera indicates that the area is patrolled, which is typical for central districts of Brazilian cities.
Weather and climate
Ourinhos has a tropical highland climate, with an average annual temperature of about 22°C. Summer (December–March) is warm and humid, with frequent rainfall. Winter (June–August) is drier and cooler, with temperatures dropping to 15°C. Ourinhos Promenade remains lively at any time of year — street lamps provide illumination in the evening hours, and green planters with plants create a pleasant atmosphere regardless of the season.
