History of the Ancón District

In colonial times, this area was known as "Pueblo de Pescadores de Lancón" — the Fishing Village of Lancón. Already in the 19th century, Ancón became one of the first beach resorts for Lima's elite, and today millions of people from the capital visit it every summer.

Routes 1507, 1607, 1608, 1701, IO47 serve the Ancón district and Puntilla Beach. The journey takes about an hour and a half depending on traffic. You can also take a taxi or rent a car — the Pan-American Highway runs close to the coast.
