Mileta Intersection in Hradec Králové — Online Webcam
Mileta Intersection — The Transport Heart of the City
Mileta Intersection (Křižovatka Mileta) is one of the key transport hubs in Hradec Králové, located at the junction of the city's main ring road with the highway leading to the city center. This node handles interregional and international traffic heading toward Prague, Pardubice, and Moravia, as well as the flow of residents from the city's largest residential district into the center. The live webcam allows you to monitor traffic in real time — from passenger cars to heavy freight transit.
Large-Scale Reconstruction Worth Half a Billion Crowns
The reconstruction of Mileta Intersection began in 2021 (one year ahead of schedule), with the cost of work amounting to over 634 million crowns including VAT, and the completion date set for the end of 2026. This is a joint investment by the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic, the city of Hradec Králové, and the Hradec Králové Region. Construction cranes are visible on the camera — they are operating as part of this large-scale overhaul of the transport infrastructure.
South Tangent and the Future of Transit Traffic
The so-called "South Tangent" runs through the area of Mileta Intersection — a planned bypass road that is intended to redirect transit traffic away from the city center. Once the reconstruction is complete, the traffic flow through the intersection will change dramatically: trucks and transit vehicles will be routed around the city, relieving the central streets of Hradec Králové.
Infrastructure for Pedestrians and Cyclists
As part of the reconstruction, underground pedestrian and bicycle crossings are being built at Mileta Intersection, along with new bike lanes and sidewalks. This is part of the overall concept of traffic calming and improving safety — previously, the intersection was a typical highway interchange with no convenient infrastructure for those traveling without a car.
Nový Hradec Králové District
Mileta Intersection is located in the Nový Hradec Králové district, which includes the panel housing developments of Moravské Předměstí. This is the city's largest residential area — tens of thousands of people pass through the intersection daily on their way to and from work. The district includes a historic area with the Church of St. Anthony of Padua on Svatováclavské Square — an architectural monument preserved amid typical socialist-era construction.
Brněnská Street and Traffic Jams
Mileta Intersection is connected to Brněnská Street, where long traffic jams form during rush hours due to the reconstruction. The live webcam allows you to assess the congestion of the highway in real time — drivers and local residents can choose the optimal time for their trip or an alternative route.
Hradec Králové — A City with a Rich History
Hradec Králové is the largest city in eastern Czechia, located approximately 100 kilometers from Prague at the confluence of the Orlice and Elbe rivers. The city is known for its interwar architecture — it is called the "Czech Scandinavia" for its functional buildings from the 1920s and 1930s. Mileta Intersection is a modern transport hub that connects the historic center with new residential quarters and industrial zones.
What You Can See on the Camera
The camera overlooking Mileta broadcasts the urban landscape from above. In the foreground is a wide multi-lane highway with road traffic, streetlights, and road signs. To the right and left of the road are green lawns, trees, and sidewalks. In the middle of the frame, a parking lot with cars and blue road signs are visible. In the background is the urban development: residential apartment blocks, commercial, and administrative buildings of varying heights. On the left side of the horizon, several construction cranes are visible, indicating active development in the area. The live webcam operates in real time — you can monitor road conditions, weather, and how the appearance of the intersection changes during the reconstruction process.
