Memorial of Glory in Neryungri — Online Webcam
Live Stream from the Memorial of Glory
The online webcam is located in the heart of South Yakutia — in the city of Neryungri. The real-time camera shows the Memorial of Glory, one of the city's main landmarks, situated on the territory of the G.I. Chiryaeva Park of Culture and Recreation. This place attracts not only tourists but also local residents who come here to pay their respects and stroll along the well-maintained alleys.
History of the Memorial Complex
The Memorial of Glory was solemnly opened on May 9, 2005 in honor of the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The idea of creating the monument was widely discussed with the public — an open competition was held for the best sketch of the monument. The authors of the winning project were sculptor A.M. Mironov and architect D.A. Ulanov — honored art workers of Buryatia.
Interestingly, the memorial is dedicated not only to the participants of the Great Patriotic War, but to all soldiers who went through all the wars in history. This makes it a universal place of remembrance, where every family can honor their defenders.
Architecture and Symbolism of the Monument
The central element of the complex is an impressive sculptural composition. Four tilted pylons of dark stone form a pedestal, on top of which rises a six-meter bronze figure of the goddess Nike, raising a laurel wreath. This is why the memorial acquired its second unofficial name — "Nike".
At the foot of the monument burns an eternal flame with a vertical blaze — a symbol of undying memory. According to the authors' vision, the memorial was supposed to feature mining waste heaps, urasa (traditional Yakut mounds), and other elements linking the memory of war with the history of the development of South Yakutia.
Location in Chiryaeva Park
The Memorial of Glory occupies a central place in the G.I. Chiryaeva Park of Culture and Recreation — the main green zone of Neryungri. Near the memorial are other significant sites: the Museum of the History of the Development of South Yakutia named after I.I. Pyankov and the "Order of the Great Patriotic War" monument. The entire area represents a single memorial complex dedicated to the history of the region and the country.
Ceremonial Events at the Memorial
The Memorial of Glory is a traditional venue for ceremonial events. On May 9, rallies and parades are held here, with the main program starting at 11 o'clock. On these days, the square in front of the monument is filled with people, flowers, and wreaths. The real-time camera allows you to see how the memorial comes alive on memorable dates.
The Memorial as a Symbol of Neryungri
Since its opening, the Memorial of Glory has become one of the visual symbols of the city of Neryungri. The image of the goddess Nike against the backdrop of a pine forest is often published on tourist postcards and in guidebooks to South Yakutia. For the city's residents, this is not just a monument — it's a place of strength, where people come in moments of joy and sorrow to be alone with their memories.
What You Can See on the Camera
The online camera broadcasts a view of the Memorial of Glory in Neryungri from a wide cobblestone square. In the foreground are several levels of dark stone stairs framed by street lamps with round white shades on tall poles. On the left side of the frame, a white monument is visible — part of the memorial complex. In the background stretches a pine forest with tall trees, walking paths, wooden benches, and decorative metal arch structures. The area is well-maintained, with lawns and flower beds. Passersby can be seen moving along the paths, enjoying a walk in Chiryaeva Park.
