Geography and Nature of Swan Valley

The Turtle Rock neighborhood is geographically located in the hilly terrain of the San Joaquin Hills, where the famous geological formation "Turtle Rock" is located. The rock got its name from the Gabrielino Indians for its characteristic resemblance to a turtle.

The highest point of the neighborhood is Sunset Point hill, which originally had no name of its own and was mentioned as part of Chaparral Park. From this hill, a panoramic view of the entire valley and surrounding areas opens up.

The relief of Swan Valley is formed by rocky outcrops and slopes covered with sparse Mediterranean vegetation. In winter and spring, the hills are covered with green grass, which burns out by summer, giving the landscape a golden hue.
