Resort history
La Plagne was founded in the 1960s as part of a French government program to develop winter sports. Before that, the Tarentaise Valley was known only for its farms and cheese-making traditions. Within a few decades, the resort grew into one of the largest in the world — today it welcomes around 2.5 million visitors per season. In 2003, La Plagne merged with neighboring resorts Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry to form the Paradiski ski area, with 425 km of runs.
Infrastructure and runs
La Plagne operates 77 lifts serving 139 runs with a total length of 225 km. The resort offers runs for all skill levels: green for beginners, blue for intermediate skiers, red for advanced, and black for experts. More than half of the runs are blue, making La Plagne an ideal destination for family holidays. The Bergerie area is equipped with modern chairlifts that provide quick access to the upper stations.
